Kade Nightshade was the Royal Alpha.
If he had personally left Nightfall City and traveled deep into one of its remote settlements, then there was almost certainly a reason behind it.
Victor simply wanted to know what that reason was.
Victor's expression became increasingly thoughtful.
He had originally intended to meet Kade personally, offer the proper respect expected when addressing the Royal Alpha, and find out why he had come so close to Ashbourne territory.
Now, however, the situation had changed.
If Kade was already in Blackwood Village, Victor would have to decide whether to follow him or wait for the Royal Alpha to return.
Before he could make that decision, his phone vibrated once more.
The security report had arrived.
Victor opened it.
The first few lines contained nothing unusual: routine patrols, livestock disputes, minor injuries, supply deliveries, and the usual reports from a remote settlement.
Then he reached the most recent entry.
His eyes stopped.
