"Kade?"
"Hmm?"
"Are you really not going anywhere today?"
Kade met her eyes and understood that beneath all her teasing and questions, there was still a small fear that he might disappear without warning. His expression softened as he reached for her hand and gently squeezed it.
"Not unless something absolutely requires me to leave."
Dakota's fingers tightened around his.
"Okay."
She finally relaxed against the pillows, and Kade leaned back beside her, keeping Takoda between them. For the moment, neither of them spoke about Blackwood Village, the strange things Kade had discovered there, or everything that still remained unresolved.
There would be time for those matters later.
Right now, Dakota simply wanted him there, and Kade had no intention of making her ask twice.
Through their blood oath connection, he could sense the emotions she was trying to hide beneath her questions and playful suspicion.
