"You told us Cooper was your son. You allowed everyone at Cross Estate to believe it, and you allowed that boy to grow up believing it as well. So tell me the truth now, Ethan. Where did you get him?"
"I told you…" Ethan began, but his voice faltered.
"You found him," Liam said, reminding him of what he had already told them. "That was your answer earlier. You said you found him."
Ethan looked at him for a long moment before slowly nodding. "Yes."
"Where?"
The question left Ethan silent again.
Gerald's expression hardened as he watched his son struggle to answer. "Where did you find Cooper, Ethan?"
"I don't remember."
The words came out quietly, almost as though Ethan himself was not certain he had said them. Gerald stared at him.
