"Otherwise, we should start with protection first?"
Hephaestus, who was also involved in the design of the new Teigu system, offered her suggestion calmly.
"Hmm?"
Xin paused for a moment when he heard this.
Then it suddenly clicked.
That's right—who ever decided that Teigu had to focus only on offensive power?
They could just as easily be designed for protection.
"Brilliant idea! Hephaestus, you're amazing!"
Xin leaned in and kissed her excitedly, only for Hephaestus to roll her eyes and push him away without hesitation.
"Focus on your work. Don't waste time all day."
Xin didn't mind at all. He simply chuckled, leaned in again like nothing had happened, and then finally turned his attention back to the design work.
Compared to creating bug-level offensive Teigu, defensive designs were much easier to conceptualize.
There were already two reference points in the world of slaying monsters—the "Carnage Incarnate: Grand Chariot" and another armor-type Teigu. Both were strong examples of personal combat armor, especially the HCarnage Incarnate: Grand Chariot, which had extremely powerful defensive capabilities.
The only drawback was its instability. The burden on the user was so extreme that ordinary people would not survive using it.
However, Xin wasn't planning to directly copy either of them. He simply saw them as useful reference points.
"Essentially, this is single-soldier armor," Xin muttered while writing notes. "If that's the case, then long-range attack capabilities and flight functions are necessary."
He continued thinking rapidly.
"Magic batteries can be used as the main power source. They can supply energy to defensive magic systems built into the armor, increasing overall survivability."
"Reactors can also be integrated. They can not only power offensive weapon systems, but also convert energy into emergency magic reserves when needed."
"The design also needs instant deployment. It shouldn't take long to equip—ideally, it should be summonable and retractable in a single moment."
"With spatial magic, the armor could be stored in a compact object when not in use and instantly released during combat."
As Xin wrote down more and more requirements, he suddenly stopped.
He stared at the list in silence for a moment.
"…Huh."
A strange sense of déjà vu washed over him.
The more he looked at it, the more familiar it felt.
Individual armor system.
Flight capability.
Instant deployment and retraction.
Energy shielding and multiple weapon systems.
When all of it was combined—
"…Wait."
Xin's expression changed slightly.
"This isn't basically the IS system from Infinite Stratos?"
It was almost identical in concept.
A single-pilot armored combat suit with high mobility, flight capability, energy shielding, and modular weapon systems.
The more he thought about it, the more accurate the comparison became.
"…This panel is practically the same thing," Xin muttered.
Then he leaned back, half amused, half impressed.
"So in the end… I'm building a magic-tech version of a sci-fi mech suit."
And somehow, that realization didn't feel wrong at all.
