JAY'S POV :
I grabbed my bike and pedaled to school. Yeah, I have a bike—I nearly threatened Kuya into buying it. Aries doesn't give me rides anymore, and I was done walking every day.
I was riding quietly when I noticed a car parked nearby. Then I spotted a guy leaning against a post, looking like the driver. Shades on, cigarette in hand. I kept pedaling, passing both him and his flashy ride.
"Hey, miss!" someone called.
I hit the brakes and turned. The guy grinned like an idiot. My eyes widened. Shit!
"WHAT THE FUCK, PERCY?!" I shouted.
"Hey, baby," Percy said, way too casual.
"Percy, have you gone mad? Why are you here?"
"I just wanted to see my baby." He pulled that innocent, heart-melting face.
"You're a complete idiot! What if someone sees us? Sees you?"
I jabbed a finger at him.
"But I missed you. It's been decades."
I rolled my eyes.
"Fine. You saw me. Now go."
"But baby—"
"Jay!" a voice called from behind.
I whipped around. Oh, shit—Yuri. Percy peeled out the second he spotted him. Easy for him. Now I'm the one stuck explaining. Yuri jumped out of his car and strode over.
"Jay, who was that?" he demanded.
"I don't know. Just some guy asking directions." I played it cool.
Yuri didn't buy it. He stared down the road where the car had vanished. I started pedaling toward school, but Yuri grabbed my handlebars.
"Get off," he ordered.
"Huh? Why?"
"Just do it. Get off!"
Unsure but obedient, I hopped off. Then, out of nowhere, he mounted my bike and rode it—straight through the school gate. Not chasing the car. Just… taking my bike.
Look at this guy!
"Hey! What the hell?!" I yelled, running after him.
Running sucked. He parked in front of our classroom, back turned. I smacked the back of his head.
"Ouch!" He yelped and glared.
"That's for stealing my bike!" I snapped, dropping into my seat.
Arms crossed, full pout.
"Your lips are so pouty," Ci-N teased.
I shot him a death glare.
Sir Alvin started class, droning about exams like every other teacher. Review, review, review. Whatever—I knew it all already.
At lunch, me, Ci-N, and David sat starving. No packed food for any of us. Mica saved the day with extras as a thank-you treat. Thanks, Mica.
Then P.E. Great! Just what I needed to forget the last incident. God really hates me.
KEIFER'S POV :
"What do you mean?" I asked Yuri.
"I saw him talking to Jay-jay."
Impossible. That guy's been dead four years.
"You're imagining things."
"Those blue eyes looked right at me before he drove off. I'm sure."
I chuckled.
"Impossible."
"I can ask Jay, show her a picture of Per—"
"Don't!" I cut him off, glancing at Section A.
"Just don't say his name here."
My blood boiled at the thought. It dragged up that night. If I got any angrier, I might send Aries to finish him… permanently.
JAY'S POV :
God, why do you hate me? P.E. was Sections E and A combined. Tss. Freya avoided my eyes, looking scared. Good.
I chased Ci-N—he'd snatched my phone. Almost had him when Kiko waved. Manners kicked in; I slowed and waved back.
"Hi—aaayyy!!!" I screamed as a leg hooked mine, sending me sprawling.
I scrambled up, glaring. Keifer, that jerk!
"Ouch! What the hell?!" I yelled.
He just grinned and kept running. Section E and A laughed. Fine—payback. I tripped him. Thought you could pass me? Ha.
He hit the ground. Everything froze. Slackers stopped running. Nerds closed their books. Even the bystanders shut up.
Tsk. You think this is some rom-com drama?
Keifer rose slowly.
"We're doomed."
"They're gonna fight."
"Yuri! Stop them!"
"Keifer's pissed."
"How much you betting? I'm on Jay-jay."
Murmurs rippled. I was nervous—his aura screamed murder. But no way I'd show it. I flashed a peace sign to piss him off more. Bad move.
"WHAT THE FUCKING HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?!" he roared, voice shaking the gym.
Knees buckled; flesh crawled.
"Your fault," I shot back, faking bravery.
"You crazy woman…" He grinned, all mischief.
"JAY! RUN!" someone yelled.
Keifer's smile turned sinister—the kind you never forget. I bolted. He chased.
"Run faster, bitch! Once I catch you, YOU'RE DEAD!"
"You forgot who I am?" Another dumb taunt. He sped up.
I'm screwed!
"Hurry!" they shouted.
I glanced back—oh God, he's close. He grabbed me from behind, spinning me like a top. My feet dangled.
"You think you can run from me?"
"Put me down!"
He didn't. Spinning faster. Desperate, I twisted my face to shove him—our lips crashed. He dropped me instantly.
Free, but… I kissed him. Ugh, Jay—not again!
Section E erupted in teasing whistles.
Keifer stood shocked, cheeks flushing. Blushing. Speechless.
Oh my God. My face burned, chest tight, throat closing. Weak knees. Jaaay, what have you done?
But… I liked it. Don't get me wrong—I love him.
"You did that on purpose!" Keifer accused, his voice low and rough, eyes still wide from the shock of our lips brushing.
"No, I didn't!" I fired back, heart hammering. Deny, deny, deny.
Aries barreled in like a storm.
"Jay-jay! Everything okay?" His glare locked on Keifer, fists clenched.
"Get back to your section!" Keifer snarled, jabbing a finger toward Section A.
The gym buzzed with whispers—everyone sensing the explosion.
Aries ignored him, grabbing my left wrist.
"Let's go, Jay-jay." He tugged, firm but protective, pulling me a step toward his side.
I stumbled, off-balance. Before I could protest, Keifer's hand clamped my right arm—hot, unyielding.
"No." He yanked back, hard.
Now it was full-on tug-of-war. Me, the damn rope.
What the hell? Pain shot up my arms as they pulled. My shoulders burned, sneakers skidding on the gym floor. The crowd gasped, phones sneaking out to record.
"Get your hands off her!" Aries growled, muscles bulging as he heaved.
"Make me," Keifer shot back, lips curling into that dangerous smirk.
He pulled sharper, dragging me inches toward Section E.
"Let go!" I yelped, twisting between them.
Their grips tightened—too tight. Bruises forming already.
"Ow—stop! You're hurting me!"
They didn't. Aries leaned in, voice venomous.
"Why do you care so much? She's not yours."
"None of your business," Keifer spat, yanking again.
My body jerked forward, slamming into his chest for a split second—heat radiating off him.
"She belongs with Section E."
"Like hell!" Aries roared, pulling so hard my feet nearly lifted.
Pain flared white-hot in my elbows. This isn't hot anymore—it's insane!
"Ah! Let go of me!" I shouted, panic rising. My voice cracked.
"Ouch—I'm serious, I'm getting hurt here!"
"No!" they barked in unison, eyes locked in a death stare over my head.
Sweat beaded on their foreheads; veins popped in their necks. The air crackled—pure testosterone explosion.
"Why's it your concern?" Keifer demanded, twisting my arm just enough to make me wince.
His thumb brushed my pulse point accidentally—or not?—sending unwanted sparks up my skin.
"She's my cousin," Aries thundered, shoving forward. "I'm concerned!"
Another brutal pull. I cried out as my shoulder popped audibly.
The crowd went dead silent, then erupted:
"Fight! Fight! Yuri, do something!"
But they ignored it all. Keifer's jaw clenched; he planted his feet and hauled with everything—pure, raw strength.
I flew toward him, crashing against his body. Our lips collided again. Not soft this time. He didn't flinch. Instead, he deepened it—fierce, claiming, tongue brushing mine for a heartbeat before I could process.
Holy shit. Heat exploded through me. In front of everyone. Section E whooping, Section A booing. My brother right there.
I shoved him back with both hands, gasping. He staggered but grinned—that idiot, triumphant grin—like he'd won some war.
Rage and blush warred in me. I swung—fist cracking his eye socket. He recoiled, hand flying to his face, groaning.
No pause. I kicked him—not full karate force, or he'd have airborne-flown into the bleachers. He crumpled to one knee, cursing.
Aries yanked me fully to his side, arms wrapping around my waist to hold me back.
"Enough, Jay-jay!"
I wasn't planning more. But inside? My face burned tomato-red. Heart racing. Second kiss… and it was fire.
