WEEK ONE
"Tell me why you're here."
A notebook sat balanced on her lap when Dr. Sarah Chen settled into the chair across from me, her expression still but kind. Sunlight found its way through, brushing the space with a hush of warmth. By the baseboards, green tips curled up quietly, present without demanding attention.
"My friend made me come."
"And what did your friend think you needed help with?"
I looked at my hands. "I lost two people I cared about. Because I couldn't choose between them. Because I lied. Because I'm apparently incapable of making decisions."
"That's a lot of self-judgment."
"It's true though."
"Is it? Or is it the story you're telling yourself?"
"What's the difference?"
"Truth is objective. Stories are how we make sense of things. Sometimes they protect us. Sometimes they trap us. Which is yours doing?"
I didn't answer.
"Let's start simpler. Tell me about these two people."
