"…What?"
Peter stared at the system prompt, lips twitching.
"So this thing is basically a long-term pay-to-win enhancement? I have to spend every time I use it?"
[If the host finds it expensive, you may also travel to the corresponding region and gather the energy manually.]
"…Yeah, sure. Of course."
He rubbed his temples.
Out of the four enhancement systems, Mega Evolution was the easiest to eliminate first.
He already had Lopunny's Mega Stone. All he needed was a Key Stone. Besides, Mega Evolution would only benefit Lopunny—powerful, yes, but limited to a single partner.
The real temptation lay elsewhere.
Between Z-Moves, Dynamax, and Terastallization.
Z-Moves were undeniably strong—but they required specific Z-Crystals. There were eighteen type-based crystals, plus numerous species-exclusive ones—Pikachu, Eevee, Lycanroc, and more.
And the mission reward only allowed him to choose one Z-Crystal.
Relying on future gacha pulls to collect the rest?
That could take forever.
He could always travel to Alola later and complete the Island Trials to obtain a full Z-set properly. The Z-Power system was deeply tied to Solgaleo and Lunala, after all.
Which left—
Dynamax.
Or Terastallization.
After a long pause—
"I'll take the Dynamax Band."
A burst of light flared around his wrist.
A sleek, high-tech band materialized, embedded with a glowing Wishing Star.
…
[Dynamax Band]
Contains amplified energy derived from Eternatus' Dynamax power.
Allows the user to channel energy into a Poké Ball and trigger Dynamax for a limited duration.
…
Peter flexed his fingers.
In simple terms—
Any Pokémon except Zacian, Zamazenta, and Eternatus could Dynamax.
Their bodies would expand dozens of times in size.
Their HP would double.
All their moves would transform into Max Moves—gaining additional field-altering effects.
Grass moves? Max Overgrowth creates Grassy Terrain.
Fire moves? Max Flare sets up sunlight.
And so on.
Even better—
Status moves convert into Max Guard, a near-impenetrable defensive shield.
Max Moves couldn't be fully blocked by Protect.
In terms of raw battlefield dominance?
Dynamax was monstrous.
Terastallization had its advantages too—type shifts, defensive bait plays, long-term sustainability. But Dynamax offered explosive tempo control.
And in high-pressure combat?
Explosiveness wins wars.
He gave the band a small test pulse.
Because it was system-bound, activation felt intuitive—mental command rather than theatrical gestures.
Efficient.
He checked the shop.
Recharge cost?
10 Master Points per use.
"…Yeah. Definitely pay-to-win."
…
Peter stepped up to the cockpit window.
Below—
Hunter J's forces had fully encircled the mountaintop.
Suicune stood firm on the summit, wind rippling through its mane.
It had no intention of retreating.
It had come to save Paige.
And it would not flee.
[Ding! Legendary Pokémon "Suicune" detected.]
Limited-Time Mission Activated: "Incarnation of the North Wind."
Objective:
Assist Suicune in escaping capture and rescue Paige.
Reward:
Blessing of the North WindOne Move Tutor of choiceMaster Points
"Blessing of the North Wind… that sounds promising."
He checked Suicune's panel.
[Suicune — Lv.63 (Elite Four Low-Tier)]
A Suicune that purifies water sources across Sinnoh.
Among the Legendary Beasts, this individual possesses average aptitude.
Holds a trace amount of minor divine authority.
…
Peter narrowed his eyes.
"Only this level…"
If it were a true god-tier Suicune, this fight would be trivial.
But this one?
It wasn't strong enough to overpower Salamence.
And Hunter J wasn't alone.
Outside—
The battle had already begun.
A spiraling, high-pressure Hydro Pump tore through the hunter formation, blasting open a gap in their encirclement.
But it closed almost instantly.
Then—
J released two more Pokémon.
Ariados — Lv.61
Drapion — Lv.62
(Both Elite Four Tier)
…
Peter's jaw tightened.
Three Elite Four-level threats.
And a Salamence at Lv.66.
This wasn't a duel.
It was a hunt.
He glanced slowly toward the still-activated laser cannon console.
No one expected internal sabotage.
His lips curled into a grin.
"Let's see how you like friendly fire."
He tossed a Poké Ball.
"Rufflet!"
The young eagle emerged.
"Take Paige and fly her back to the Pokémon Center. Now."
"Chee!"
Rufflet swooped down, gripping Paige's overalls with powerful talons before launching out of the open hatch.
Peter turned back toward the battlefield.
Wind roared through the broken hull.
Suicune stood alone.
Hunter J's Salamence advanced.
Drapion and Ariados flanked.
Peter placed a hand over his Dynamax Band.
Energy pulsed faintly beneath his skin.
"For the first time…"
He smiled.
"Let's go big."
