Chapter 141 - The Iceberg Ruins, Regice!

"Objection denied," Peter said with a smile, glancing at Indeedee's status panel.

In the held item slot, it clearly displayed:

Psychic Seed.

Its effect: Special Defense rises by one stage while Psychic Terrain is active.

Indeedee already had naturally high Special Defense.

Psychic-type moves were also resisted by its own typing.

Add in:

1 Calm Mind boost

Psychic Seed's Special Defense increase

That meant Indeedee had effectively gained two stages of Special Defense.

The seemingly powerful Future Sight attack?

When it struck Indeedee, its real damage was barely 30 power.

Peter waved his hand.

"Alright, let's finish this. Indeedee—Psyshock!"

A wave of psychic energy gathered in the air and crashed down like a physical shockwave.

Meanwhile Alakazam was still trying to use Psyshock repeatedly.

Under the effect of Imprison, the move couldn't activate at all.

Naturally, it had no way to defend.

BOOM!

When the smoke cleared, Alakazam knelt on one knee, covered in injuries.

Psyshock — Psychic-type special move, Power 80.

But the damage calculation targets the opponent's Defense, not Special Defense.

With:

2 stages of Special Attack from Calm Mind

Psychic Terrain's damage boost

The attack effectively reached 208 power.

And Alakazam itself was extremely fragile.

Peter wasn't surprised the hit nearly knocked it out.

Mira rushed forward.

"Alakazam!"

She bit her lip and ran onto the field.

"I give up! I give up! I surrender! I'll go back to school, okay?!"

Watching the girl hug her injured Pokémon, Peter and Whitney exchanged smiles.

The lesson had clearly worked.

Rewards

[Ding! Consecutive mission "Partner Trainer" challenge completed: Mira!]

Reward: Special Attack Talent ×50

[Ding! You have gained Alakazam's recognition!]

Reward: Master Points ×8

[Ding! Indeedee has surpassed talent limits and can allocate additional points!]

Peter smiled and immediately spent 200 Master Points, increasing Indeedee's talent to 535.

Indeedee ♀ — Lv.33 (Advanced)

Talent: 535 (Species limit: 475)

HP: 60|Attack: 30|Defense: 80|Sp. Atk: 170|Sp. Def: 80|Speed: 115

Next, Peter planned to fully develop Indeedee's Trick Room Baton Pass strategy.

Some extra durability would definitely help.

After the stat increase, Indeedee's body strength improved slightly.

Its appearance didn't change much, but the psychic aura around it became noticeably stronger.

Peter used healing magic to restore its stamina and sent it back into the Dream Space for training.

Whitney handed Alakazam a bottle of Moomoo Milk, helping it recover.

Mira stood nearby looking completely defeated—

Like a student waiting for exam results.

"So, how did that feel?" Peter asked, saving the battle recording onto Whitney's camera.

This Psychic-type duel had some interesting tactical elements.

He planned to upload it to SNS later.

Mira thought for a moment.

"I think battles should be a bit… sneaky."

"That way it's easier to win!"

Whitney burst out laughing.

"Honey, you're not the sunshine boy you used to be."

"You're a sneaky now."

Peter twitched.

"That's not sneaky—that's called good battle etiquette. Haven't you noticed all the Masters fight like this?"

Just as the three of them were joking—

The cave ceiling suddenly shook violently.

A massive explosion followed.

BOOOOOOM!!!

"Watch out!"

Peter immediately shielded Whitney and Mira.

Fortunately, the cave didn't collapse.

Only dust and debris fell from above.

Peter narrowed his eyes.

"Stay here. I'm going to check it out."

-----

Outside Mount Coronet

He ran back toward the entrance.

Snow had piled up near the cave opening, but it was still passable.

Peter stepped outside and looked toward the mountain.

Halfway up the slope, a huge blasted hole was spewing black smoke.

Avalanches of snow were sliding down the mountainside.

Wild Pokémon were scattering in panic.

"So the explosion happened higher up…"

Then Peter noticed something strange in the sky.

A semi-transparent airship glided overhead.

If you weren't paying attention, you'd miss it completely.

Peter's eyes widened.

"Wait… that's Hunter J?!"

He immediately began analyzing the situation.

"Mount Coronet… central ice mountain… could it be Regigigas?"

He shook his head.

"No… the Snowpoint Temple where Regigigas sleeps is much farther north near Snowpoint City…"

While he was thinking—

A Salamence flew out of the cave.

Beneath it hung a massive rope net.

Inside the net—

A giant Pokémon had been turned to stone.

Its body was icy blue like frozen pillars.

Its face had seven yellow dots arranged in a cross pattern.

Its legs were cone-shaped.

Its arms were thick cylindrical columns.

Ice spikes protruded from its back.

The legendary ice giant—

Regice.

Peter's expression hardened.

"So their target was Regice?!"

He looked at the blasted cave.

"So that explosion… it opened the Iceberg Ruins."

The Iceberg Ruins.

In Sinnoh, it was Regice's home.

In the games, it was also a hidden location that only appeared after the main story.

Peter frowned.

"Hunter J always hunts Legendary Pokémon…"

"No… she only captures whatever her employer requests."

"But how did they obtain this information?"

"If they hadn't already known about the Iceberg Ruins, they should never have discovered this place."

He couldn't figure it out.

By now Regice had already been loaded into the ship.

Peter didn't make a move.

Instead, he quietly reported the situation to the Sinnoh League using his Professor authority.

Hunter J possessed Elite Four–level combat strength.

They had also clashed before.

Risking his life for Regice alone didn't seem worth it.

If it had been Regigigas, that might have been different.

Peter was thinking about it when—

The system notification rang.

System Mission

[Ding! Target related to Legendary capture objective "Regigigas" detected.]

Limited-Time Mission Triggered: "Rescue the Ice Titan."

Mission: Rescue Regice

Description:

The Regice guarding the Iceberg Ruins has been captured by Pokémon hunters. As the guardian appointed by Regigigas, its existence maintains the stability of the icy layers around Mount Coronet. Rescue it and return it to the Iceberg Ruins.

Rewards:

Blessing of the Ice Mountain

Ice Emblem

1/3 reduction in Regigigas capture cost

Note: This mission is a precondition for capturing Regigigas.

Peter's eyes lit up.

In his mind, Regice was no longer a frozen statue.

It had transformed into thirty million Poké Dollars flying in the sky.

He might be rich now—

But his ultimate goal was to raise twelve Arceus-level Pokémon.

Each one would cost over 400 million Poké Dollars.

He couldn't miss this opportunity.

After all—

The system was offering way too much.

Just then Whitney and Mira ran out of the cave.

The airship was about to pull Regice inside.

Peter turned to Mira.

"Mira, can Alakazam teleport me onto that ship?"

Mira shook her head.

"No way, Peter… Mount Coronet has a special magnetic field. Alakazam's teleport distance here is barely five meters."

Peter froze.

"Then how exactly did you manage to teleport through the mountain earlier?"

Mira scratched her head.

"Well… we just tried multiple times?"

Alakazam:

(*꒦ິ⌓꒦ີ)

Peter and Whitney stared at her.

"…."

After thinking for a moment, Peter suddenly frowned.

He remembered something.

Yesterday—

He had encountered Cyrus at the base of the mountain.

If teleportation didn't work here—

How did Cyrus disappear instantly?
