window and struck one of the people standing there.
It was a sniper's bullet.
At that exact moment, Emma's phone vibrated.
A message had arrived from someone named D.
"Emma, you don't need to worry about anything. I'm right here."
Emma looked at the message for a few seconds before putting her phone back into her pocket.
There was no reaction on her face.
It was as if she had forgotten how to live.
There was no smile.
No expression.
Nothing.
Only tears silently gathering in her eyes.
The scene then shifted to a girl standing on top of a building. She was cleaning some of the equipment while angrily shouting at someone.
"If your bullet had accidentally hit Emma, it would have caused a huge problem! I already told you that you're still learning!"
She paused for a moment and looked toward Emma's direction.
Then, quietly, she thought to herself,
At least I've gotten good at sniping again.
But I'm still nowhere near as good as I was five years ago.
I hadn't even seen a sniper rifle for five years, and now they suddenly put one in my hands as if it were nothing more than a toy.
Still, I've managed to get used to it again within two months.
She looked down at the weapon in her hands.
But that's still not enough to protect Emma.
Her expression slowly became serious.
Emma has made so many enemies that someone can come from anywhere at any time… like an uninvited guest.
And who knows how many more problems are still waiting for her?
She looked toward Emma again.
After what had just happened, Emma had become completely silent.
She's become so quiet…
It almost feels like she's not living for herself anymore.
It feels like she's living only for us.
Her eyes slowly filled with tears.
I wish you hadn't left us, Joya…
She quickly looked away, trying to hide the tears in her eyes.
Then she suddenly noticed something inside her pocket.
Something had been bothering her while she was sniping.
She slipped her hand into her pocket and pulled out a New Year's card.
She stared at it for a moment before opening it.
Inside were several photographs.
There were pictures of Emma, Joya, and everyone else.
But then her eyes fell upon one particular photograph.
She froze.
It was a picture of Emma and Joya together.
For a moment, everything around her seemed to disappear.
She remembered the day that photograph had been taken.
Before the picture was taken, the entire gang had already gotten into an argument.
Half of them wanted Joya to become the president.
The other half wanted Emma to become president.
But then Joya herself had made the decision.
She had said that she wanted Emma to become president.
Remembering that, the girl gave a small, affectionate smile.
"Joya… your decision was absolutely right."
She looked at the photograph again.
"I know that wherever you are, you're still worrying about Emma."
A few tears slipped down her cheeks.
Just then, a boy walked up behind her.
"What happened? Missing her?"
The girl immediately wiped away her tears and replied,
"I don't miss anyone."
She turned toward him.
"And you've probably forgotten that I don't have feelings for anyone."
Then she pointed toward his equipment.
"Now go and fix your sniping."
The boy simply looked at her for a moment.
Meanwhile, the scene shifted back to Emma.
Emma walked forward without shedding a single tear.
She passed by the bodies in silence.
Her face remained completely emotionless.
Haiku was watching everything from a distance.
He couldn't take his eyes away from her.
"Emma…"
His voice was filled with fear.
"I'm scared now."
He lowered his gaze.
"I'm scared that you're going to change."
Emma continued walking.
Then something caught her attention.
A box.
It was hidden underneath her bed.
She stared at it for a moment before calling Haiku over.
"Haiku."
Haiku walked toward her.
"What is this box doing here?"
Haiku looked at the box and calmly replied,
"Open it yourself and find out."
Emma frowned slightly.
"What is inside?"
She slowly pulled the box out and opened it.
Inside were several letters.
There were also some neatly folded uniforms.
Emma picked up one of the letters.
She unfolded it.
At the top, it read:
Dear Emma,
How are you?
By now, I might have gotten married… and I might have even moved to India.
I'm right, aren't I?
You must be sad.
But don't worry.
I have a small, lovely gift for all of you.
These gang uniforms were designed by me.
I hope you like them.
Emma looked at the photographs of the uniforms.
"There are pictures of everyone's uniforms here…"
She paused.
"But yours is different."
She looked more carefully at the designs.
"Everyone else's uniform has eleven lions on it."
Her fingers slowly moved over the photograph.
"But yours has ten real lions."
She continued reading.
"There isn't a new member on yours."
"It represents the old members."
"The members who were there from the beginning."
Then Emma noticed something else.
"And your uniform even has PRESIDENT written on it."
She looked toward the bottom of the design.
"Look… there are golden lions too."
A faint smile appeared on her face.
"You like the color gold, don't you?"
"You told me that once."
"I still remember."
Then she continued reading.
"And yes… you know who I'm talking about, right?"
"Come on, let me remind you."
"Your friends."
"Even though I wasn't a real lion… and I wasn't even a lion at all."
"Rai, Dark, Jack, Deccan, Angel, Haiku, Kuro, Kai, Momo, Monster…"
"And you."
Emma's eyes slowly widened.
"There are eleven of us."
"And you already know which ten are the real members…"
"…and which one is the fake member who joined later."
The letter continued.
"I hope we'll meet again someday."
"When you come to India, we'll definitely meet."
"But for now…"
"Bye, Emma."
Emma kept reading the letter.
But then her voice began to tremble.
The sound of her voice slowly echoed through the entire corridor.
Every word seemed to bounce off the walls.
She tried to continue reading, but the emotions she had been holding inside for so long finally began to break through.
Her tears started falling.
The letter trembled in her hands.
For the first time in a long while, Emma couldn't hide what she was feeling.
Haiku immediately rushed toward her.
He pulled her into a tight hug.
"It's okay, Emma."
He held her firmly, making sure she knew she wasn't alone.
"Calm down."
His voice was gentle.
"I'm here with you."
Emma said nothing.
She simply stood there in his arms, holding the letter tightly.
And for a moment, the corridor became completely silent.
