Duanmu Yan scratched his head, his brow furrowed in confusion. "But I remember the Great Ape transformation only increases power by ten times, right? Son Goku as a Super Saiyan 3 wasn't a match for Baby, so transforming into a Great Ape would be even less of a match, wouldn't it?"
Li Xinnan (Tien Shinhan) leaned forward, his eyes narrowing as he analyzed the screen. "Could it be that Super Saiyan 4 is actually related to the Great Ape form?"
"That has to be it," Li Haotian added, nodding in agreement. "And I'd bet it's related to the tail. After all, without a tail, a Saiyan can't trigger the Great Ape transformation in the first place."
Daigo looked puzzled, looking between his allies. "So, what exactly is the relationship between the Great Ape and Super Saiyan 4?"
Zhang Chulan shrugged, a smirk playing on his lips. "If there really is a connection, we're about to find out very soon."
Across the Wanjie Multiverse, countless viewers nodded in silent anticipation. Indeed, Son Goku was on the verge of a breakthrough. If Super Saiyan 4 was truly linked to the Oozaru state, the answer was mere moments away.
With the Earth serving as a surrogate moon, Goku underwent the transformation for the first time in years. But this was no ordinary transformation. The massive ape that emerged wasn't the usual brown; its fur shimmered with a brilliant, metallic gold. It was as if he had ascended to Super Saiyan while maintaining the primal form of the Great Ape.
Initially, the beast was uncontrollable. Goku succumbed to his primitive instincts, losing his sanity and attacking everything in sight. Even the formidable Baby found himself momentarily helpless against this raw, golden fury and was forced to retreat.
As Goku rampaged, Pan rushed to his side, desperately trying to reach the man buried beneath the monster. Her initial pleas fell on deaf ears. However, when the Golden Great Ape flung her away, a photograph slipped from her bag and drifted through the air.
The massive beast froze. He picked up the tiny photo, staring at it with wide, unblinking eyes. Pan flew back to him, looking at the image with him. It was a snapshot of a happier time: Goku and Bulma's families playing at the beach, with Goku smiling warmly as he held a young Pan in his arms.
As Pan recounted the memories behind the photo, a single tear rolled down her cheek. Goku caught the tear on his massive finger and tasted it. A spark of recognition ignited in his eyes. He looked past Pan toward the Earth hanging in the sky, then stood atop a jagged cliff, extending his massive arms as if to embrace his home.
Suddenly, a blinding golden light erupted, enveloping his gargantuan frame. The Golden Great Ape's body began to shrink and condense. When the radiance finally dissipated, the beast was gone. In its place stood a figure unlike any they had ever seen.
His torso was covered in thick red fur, a crimson tail swayed behind him, and long black hair draped over his shoulders. His eyes were lined with red, framing piercing pupils that radiated a wild, untamed Ki.
This was Super Saiyan 4.
Watching through his crystal ball, Old Kai jumped up, his voice cracking with excitement. "This is it! This is Super Saiyan 4!"
Across the dimensions, the shock was palpable. The appearance of this new form was a complete departure from everything they knew.
Sengoku stared at the screen, his jaw dropping. "This is Super Saiyan 4? It's fundamentally different from the previous stages!"
Garp crossed his arms, equally stunned. "The others all had golden hair, and the physical changes were mostly just the aura. But this? This is a total transformation!"
Duanmu Yan shook his head. "If it weren't for the title of the video and Old Kai's confirmation, I wouldn't have believed it for a second."
Zhang Chulan nodded fervently. "Exactly. It shares no visual DNA with the first three levels. If you didn't tell me, I'd never guess this was the next step of Super Saiyan."
Uzumaki Naruto's eyes sparkled with excitement. "I don't care, it looks amazing! It's way cooler than the other forms!"
Beside him, Uchiha Sasuke gave a rare, subtle nod. "For once, we agree. This form has a much more intimidating presence."
Even before Goku could showcase his new power, the sheer aesthetics of Super Saiyan 4 had conquered the viewers of the multiverse. Akira, watching the reactions, wasn't surprised.
As a transmigrator with tactical knowledge of the franchise, Akira had a complicated relationship with Dragon Ball GT. While he found the plot and character development often lacking compared to the original or even the flaws of Super, he couldn't deny its peaks. GT's power scaling was notoriously messy, and it had birthed a generation of "noodle shop" debaters who claimed characters like Omega Shenron could beat Whisâan idea Akira found laughable.
However, he acknowledged three undeniable triumphs of GT: the legendary theme song "Dan Dan Kokoro Hikareteku," the emotional weight of its ending, and the design of Super Saiyan 4.
To Akira, the "Primal" look of Super Saiyan 4 was superior to the simple palette swaps of Super Saiyan God or Blue. It captured the essence of the Saiyan raceâtheir connection to the ape and their wild nature. It was the "Golden Great Ape" condensed into a human vessel.
Duanmu Yan finally had his "eureka" moment. "I get it now. That's why the title called it an 'ape transformation.' It literally evolves from the Oozaru state."
Kakashi squinted, his analytical mind working. "So that's the link. But if the Great Ape only multiplies power by ten, how much of a boost can this really provide?"
Sasuke interjected, "It's different, Sensei. This wasn't a normal Great Ape; it was a Golden one. It was a Super Saiyan Great Ape. The ten-fold multiplier is being applied to the Super Saiyan base, not the human base."
Kakashi's eye widened. "I see. That would make the power jump astronomical."
Zhang Chulan tapped his chin thoughtfully. "Wait a minute. If the key is regaining your reason while in the Great Ape form... wouldn't this be incredibly easy for Vegeta?"
Vegeta, watching from his own timeline, felt a surge of adrenaline. His eyes lit up with renewed ambition. Zhang Chulan was right! As the Prince of all Saiyans, he had mastered his mind in the Oozaru form long ago. He didn't lose his sanity like a common low-class warrior.
"That's right!" Vegeta smirked, his fists clenching. "If I hadn't been possessed by that parasite Baby, I would have achieved Super Saiyan 4 long before Kakarot ever did!"
