Chapter 20 Mother's Past
"Your dad's original girlfriend was your current second aunt. They'd been together for ages since high school, I hear. Just what I've heard! Your second aunt even had several abortions for your dad." Aunt glanced at Qi, who looked calm, so she continued.

Your dad met your mom for the first time that day. Your mom was an art student, home for summer she tagged along because her older sister your second aunt was matchmaking. That's when Master Min got involved… Saw your second aunt, said nothing. He soon had another question. "Didn't Master Min have a son? If Mom's face was so great, wouldn't he want her for his son?"
"Seems he didn't… Min used to joke about leaking too many secrets and that he was fated to have no sons. Who knows? But busting up your dad and second aunt that was definitely bad karma! "And second aunt she just watched as Dad married Mom and didn't react?" Qi now felt differently about her. He'd always judged her harshly, seeing her as a wanton woman. Aunt's story made him pity her.
Now that he'd experienced love himself, Qi knew all too well what it was to have a love taken by force.
"Of course she reacted! She was so desperate she tried drinking pesticide! Luckily, they found out in time and saved her. Grandpa was a real bastard… Finally, Dad introduced his classmate now your second uncle to your second aunt, and the whole mess was settled." Aunt's anger spiked; she openly called Grandpa a bastard, caring nothing that he was her own father.
Aunt cursed while Qi quietly admired his dad: "Dad's got guts, introducing his ex-lover to a friend… Wonder if second uncle knows how tangled she still is with Dad."
"But…" Aunt suddenly lowered her voice, "Listen to me, but do NOT mention any of this to Dad, Mom, or anybody else."
"What is it?" Qi was curious.
"You might have an older sister." Aunt said it out of the blue.
"What… you mean… I might have a sister?" Qi froze.
Realizing she'd said too much, Aunt clammed up.
"Aunt, tell me! You said I might have a sister… Don't stop there…" Qi pressed.
Aunt, pestered, finally gave in. "Can you really keep a secret?"
Qi nodded emphatically.
After a pause, Aunt finally explained. "Your second aunt and Dad wanted to marry because your second aunt had already had a daughter with him. That's why your dad tried pushing Grandpa and Mom's family to meet. But the marriage never happened, and your second aunt became the mother of an illegitimate child. That was a disgrace in Mom's family, so… the daughter was given to relatives to raise. If you count the years, she's probably 18 now."
"Where? Which relatives?" Suddenly realizing he might have a sister, Qi was shocked and eager for more.
Aunt replied uncertainly: "No one ever mentions it in your mom's family. Neighbors say she went back to the old family in Shanxi. I've always suspected your cousin Uncle Chen Lan's daughter is her, but there's no proof. In the countryside then, kids were often born at home; if it wasn't an extra birth, anyone could fix up the records easily."
"Uncle Chen Lan's daughter? Is that Auntie Chen Lan's side?" Qi asked. Because his family was from cadres, they weren't close to Mom's rural kin. His two aunts only became closer once they married and moved to the city.
As for Mom's cousins, Qi only really knew Aunt Chen Lan.
Even Uncle Chen Lan he only knew the name, had never met.
Aunt Chen Lan had visited more often in recent years, so Qi had met her a few times.
Aunt nodded. "That's right, Chen Lan's daughter. Plus, whenever she visits, she always makes a point to see your second aunt and Dad. Probably for that reason. Though I only suspect it…"
"Have you met her?" Qi asked. With no proof, he'd just accept the surface relationship and call her cousin.
"Once, two years back," Aunt replied.
"What does she look like like Dad?" Qi wondered. If they looked alike, maybe that could be proof.
Aunt thought. "She's very pretty. Doesn't really look like Dad, but quite like your second aunt. Of course, relatives often resemble each other it doesn't mean much… But her personality is wild. She ignores me, her own parents can't handle her. I hear she runs away for days or weeks, hangs around with shady people. Don't do that yourself," Aunt scolded, seizing on the moment.
Qi could only laugh bitterly.
After this, the two both felt hungry.
"So, what do you want to eat?" Aunt asked.
"Anything, as long as it fills me up," Qi answered.
"I know a good noodle shop close to the gym. Afterwards I'll drop you at swimming," Aunt said, then suddenly changed the subject, reaching for Qi's waistband.
Qi's eyes widened as Aunt deftly undid his belt and started rubbing his penis.

That Sunday afternoon was a real ordeal for Qi no matter how he begged, Aunt wouldn't let him touch her again.
After noodles, Aunt dumped him at the pool and drove off.
