Iris
The full moon celebration was apparently one of the most important nights of the year. I learned that because Carina had spent the entire morning talking about it and because she had absolutely refused to let me hide in my room.
"You are going."
"I am not." I argued.
"You are."
Carina was not having it at all. I sighed.
"I don't dance." She rolled her eyes.
"You don't have to dance."
"Good."
"But you have to attend." I groaned.
Carina looked entirely too pleased, maybe because she knew I would finally give in and attend.
The traitor.
By afternoon, Carina was still talking about the party, she was so excited and it could not be hidden.
The two of us sat near my bedroom window while servants rushed through the fortress preparing for the evening festivities.
Garlands were being hung and tables carried into the main courtyard. Lanterns prepared. The entire territory seemed alive. I watched the activity below trying very hard not to think about something.
