"As warriors with weapon abilities, it is very important that you keep your body in shape. Unlike mages who train their mana control consistently or beastmen who focus on improving their beast companions, your bodies are your only allies when you need help the most." Teacher May said to the fifteen students standing before her.
Ivan glanced around. The fifteen of them from class 2 were currently gathered in an empty hall with formations glowing faintly on the surrounding walls.
Ivan had previously thought that for the practical classes, he would meet new classmates and even a new teacher, since they were held in a different classroom.
He was slightly surprised to find out that he would be taking this class with all of his classmates and teacher.
'Well, we're all weapon users so it makes sense to attend all classes together.' Ivan thought to himself while Teacher May used a few minutes to explain to the students the essence of training their bodies.
After she was done, she told the students to prepare themselves while she walked to the left side of the wall.
All of the students, including Ivan, stared at her in confusion. Ivan might have reached a very high level in the past but formations weren't really his thing, he was as clueless as a newborn in this aspect.
However, they soon realise what was going on as the moment Teacher May reached the wall. She placed her right palm on one of the formations and released mana into it. The next second…
Thud! Thud! Thud!
The students felt the gravity inside the hall increase suddenly. Their bodies grew heavy and several of them dropped to the ground without warning, lying flat on their stomach.
As for Ivan and a few others who were also caught off guard by the sudden increase in gravity, they all dropped to their knees while struggling not to drop down flat like the others.
'A gravity chamber,' Ivan thought to himself as his eyes flashed with surprise, his lips formed into a smile the next moment as he began steadying his breathing.
Unlike Ivan who quickly assessed the situation, the rest of the students looked like they were facing a panic attack and some of the girls were already crying for Teacher May to undo whatever she had done.
Teacher May looked at the students with an expressionless face as she walked back to her previous position.
"This is only the first level of the gravity formation and you all are already unable to stand properly, am I teaching a bunch of spineless worms?!" She spat with a cold gaze while moving around with ease.
Of course, such a level of gravity wouldn't have any effects on her, she was a Level 4 warrior after all.
"We won't proceed until all of you can stand properly," Teacher May said before walking out of the class, leaving the students alone.
Grunting sounds could be heard as many of the students tried to force themselves up but the sudden increase in gravity was too much for them, some couldn't even turn their heads.
Meanwhile, Ivan's breathing had stabilised. He was rapidly adapting to the new change. Although his boy was weak, his past experiences with similar situations helped him to adapt quickly and soon enough, he had taken his knees off the ground and was now crouching slightly.
'Not bad,' Ivan thought to himself as he felt the pressure on his body reducing, his body was adapting faster than he imagined.
Some of the students who had fallen to one knee like Ivan earlier turned and looked at him with shocked faces, they wondered how he was already able to move.
At this moment, the sound of the door being pushed open was heard. Teacher May had returned and she was holding a chair in her left hand. Amongst the students, only Ivan was able to turn and look at her; the others didn't have enough strength to carry out such movements for the time being.
Upon entering the hall, May's eyes landed on Ivan who was currently in a crunching position.
"Good, I see some of you are already moving. I guess not all of you are useless after all." She nodded and then walked to the front before sitting with one leg crossed over the other.
The wait began. May's eyes jumped from one student to the other. Only when she looked at Ivan did the frown on her face disappear for a bit.
Time passed quickly, and teacher May continued to watch the students struggle under the pressure of the level one gravity. However, her face suddenly changed into a surprised look the longer she observed Ivan.
After just ten minutes, Ivan was standing straight with no issues. Another five minutes and he was already making small movements. Five more minutes, making it twenty minutes since she returned to observe them, Ivan was already jumping and walking around like the gravity in the room wasn't different from his bedroom.
Unknowingly, a smile had formed on Teacher May's face.
Looks like there was a genius in her class after all.
By the time Ivan was already jumping around, the rest of the students were just managing to get up from the ground.
Some were barely standing straight while others were bending over with their legs trembling.
All of them looked at Ivan like he was some sort of monster. How was he able to move a lot like that so quickly?!
Their muscles were screaming and their legs felt jelly, standing up alone was taking everything in them but Ivan was acting like it was nothing.
Was this the difference between them and people from the Castellan family?
Meanwhile, Ivan was focusing on this new feeling. Although his body wasn't feeling as free as before, this pressure was very manageable and he could move like normal under it.
After another thirty minutes had passed, everyone was finally standing on their feet. Many of them were gasping and sweating hard but at least they were now able to stand.
Teacher May finally got up from her seat.
"Now that everyone can stand, let's start our class." She stated.
'What, the class hadn't started?!'
'Then what was all that suffering for? We suffered for over an hour and you're saying the class hadn't started?'
The students all stared at their beautiful red-haired teacher with ghastly expressions but didn't dare to say anything out loud.
Teacher May could tell what they were thinking from their expression and a wicked smirk formed on her face.
"First, let's start with some light movements. Hands forward!" Teacher May said, almost shouting.
The students obeyed and immediately stretched both hands forward.
"Sideways!"
The students followed and moved their hands to the side, their bodies forming the letter T"
"Now jump as high as you can,"
Following her instructions, the students jumped as high as their bodies could allow them before landing back.
Thud!!
"Ouch!"
"My knees!"
"Ouch, my back!"
Unable to bear the weight of their own bodies after jumping, many of the students dropped to the ground like broken puppets and began to scream.
Teacher May ignored them and focused on the few who were still standing.
"Now squat," she said softly.
The students obeyed and lowered their bodies. However, except for Ivan, this was where the rest of them were unable to hold on anymore.
While lowering their bodies, their knees felt like an electric current had shot through them. They lost all strength and immediately fell to the ground.
"I can't feel my legs anymore!"
"Sob, I want to go home."
