"Unknown origin?"
The voice in the jade slip suddenly turned cold. "You don't even know his origin, so why are you reporting this to me?"
Barnaby Qin's heart trembled. "Sect Leader, your subordinate will immediately investigate this person's background!"
"Hmph. Since this person can lift the Heavenly Luck Stone, he must be one with Great Destiny. You must find out who he is and tell me as soon as possible."
"Uh, actually... there is one more thing..."
"Speak."
"Actually... the Heavenly Luck Stone shattered."
The voice in the jade slip went silent. A few moments later—
"Say that again?" The voice rang out, laced with a hint of utter disbelief.
Barnaby felt incredibly miserable, but he had to report the truth. "Sect Leader, the Heavenly Luck Stone is broken."
The voice inside the jade slip fell silent again.
"What nonsense are you spouting?" A roar erupted, nearly scaring Barnaby so much he almost collapsed onto the ground. "The Heavenly Luck Stone contains the Great Dao; it is a sacred object formed by Heaven and Earth! How could it shatter? What kind of rubbish are you talking about?"
Barnaby Qin was almost in tears. "Sect Leader, I'm not lying to you! It really shattered. That young man picked it up, and cracks appeared while it was in his hands. Then, his hand slipped, the stone hit the ground, and it just... broke into pieces."
On the other end of the jade slip, the Sect Leader was completely stunned.
The Heavenly Luck Stone shattered? They had searched for many years to find that stone to complete the sect's thousand-year plan. And now it was broken?
Fortunately, they had found someone who could lift the stone.
"Barnaby, you must find out that person's origin. Keep a close eye on him at all costs! This person is the key to our sect's grand plan. If there is even the slightest mishap, you don't need to come back. Just find a place to end yourself."
"Your subordinate understands! I will not let down the Sect Leader's expectations!"
Barnaby Qin guaranteed repeatedly, feeling a wave of relief. Stowing the Transmission Jade Slip, he moved quickly, chasing in the direction Quinn Ye and his group had left.
Soon, Barnaby caught up. They were still within the marketplace. He didn't dare follow too closely, keeping a careful distance while vigilantly watching Quinn's group.
At this moment, Quinn was still feeling a bit of lingering fear. "Fortunately, that old man didn't chase after us. Otherwise, if he had just laid on the ground and framed me for breaking that stone with a staged accident scam, I really wouldn't have been able to explain it."
Quinn felt deeply moved, thinking that the people in this world were still too kind. Ezra Yin and the others were still immersed in the shock of the stone shattering. Seeing Quinn's calm and indifferent expression, their admiration only grew.
Senior Quinn is truly unfathomable. To him, the Heavenly Luck Stone is probably nothing at all.
Right then, Quinn suddenly spotted a noodle shop ahead. His stomach had been growling for a while. "Come on, let's go. My treat! We're having noodles!" Quinn called out.
The four of them walked in. Someone immediately came to greet them—a rather pretty woman, about twenty-five, with a curvaceous figure and a seductive smile.
The customers in the shop were constantly stealing glances at her. Clearly, these people weren't here for the food. They were lusting after this seductive woman.
Ezra Yin and Arthur Chu were old hands in the world; they could tell there was something fishy about this woman. Rosie Song, being young and inexperienced, was still looking around curiously.
"Noodles!" Quinn just wanted to eat. As for how beautiful the woman was, he didn't pay any attention at all.
"Right away," the woman said with a giggle. "Four bowls of noodles!"
A short while later, the woman served the food. She deliberately leaned down in front of Quinn, her loose collar opening up to reveal a clearly visible, snowy-white expanse.
Quinn, however, was only looking at the noodles in the bowl and didn't notice at all. On the contrary, Rosie Song, sitting next to him, looked up.
Holy moly. There was a whole lot of "white" right in front of her. She then looked down at herself and felt that life was simply unfair. Why are hers so big?
"Please enjoy, everyone," the woman said. Seeing that Quinn ignored her, she sneered inwardly. Once you eat my noodles, let's see how you hold yourself back.
Quinn poked at the noodles in his bowl. He was utterly disappointed. It was basically just noodles boiled in plain water. Way too bland. Quinn took a bite, and his face instantly collapsed.
"Shopkeeper!" Quinn called out.
The woman immediately stepped forward. "What is it, Young Master?"
Quinn squinted at her. "Your noodles are way too gross."
The woman was stunned. "Uh, you must be joking. Every customer who comes here says they're good. Why are you saying they're gross?"
Everyone in the shop was staring at Quinn. Quinn stood up and glared at the woman. She didn't flinch at all, even deliberately puffing out her chest.
"Lady," Quinn said with a face full of professional indignation, "I'll serve you mine personally!"
"I'll show you what a truly delicious 'noodle' actually feels like!"
