Amara's POV:
I woke up at six thirty to my alarm blaring and I wanted to throw it against the wall.
Three hours in a car with Roman. The thought of that made me nervous.
I got in the shower and got dressed in jeans and a sweater and pulled my hair back into a ponytail and went downstairs.
Roman was already in the kitchen with a cup of coffee and his phone. He looked up when I walked in.
"Morning," he said.
"Morning."
Alicia appeared with a plate of toast and fruit. "Eat something before you go, dear. It's a long drive."
I sat down and ate while Roman finished whatever he was reading on his phone. The silence felt heavy and awkward.
"We should leave in ten minutes," Roman said without looking up.
"Okay."
I finished eating and grabbed my bag and we walked out to the car. The sky was gray and overcast and the air smelled like wet grass.
Roman opened the passenger door for me and I got in and buckled my seatbelt while he walked around to the driver's side.
