Chapter 54 - Both

His eyes landed on the toddler floating in space, amused by their battle. There was nothing human about it; even its body seemed made of cosmic planets, sparks, and darkness except for the shape.

"What is this thing now? Is this also an angel?"

"How would I know? Ask the True Reality's Fragments."

The angel replies, turning to the cosmic toddler. A bunch of feathers materialized around her, aimed at the cosmic toddler.

"Don't even think of attacking me from behind." The angel glanced at Liyoku from the corner of her eye. "Let me finish this thing first."

Though Liyoku had been thinking of doing exactly that, his eyes then found plenty of Webers heading toward them. Their eyes glowed; they did not seem to be floating but rather walking on the space.

Liyoku did not bother heading toward them. He simply used "Dimensional Flames" in their direction. Upon his action, the cosmic sphere appeared once again, representing him as the "World Ruler." Before the Webers could even get close, the flames turned them into ashes. After the flames dimmed, the cosmic sphere began to vanish, and there was nothing left except space.

"Could I ask you a question? If you are smart enough to answer." The angel shifted to Liyoku. The cosmic toddler was already dead, floating with no blood leaking from its skin—just floating as if nothing had happened.

"A question from an enemy." Liyoku took the stance, anticipating the question as a cover for the next strike.

"I don't see you as an enemy. We both are doing our work. We both are fighting for something. We both want to return. We both are bonded by something." The angel stated casually without blinking.

"Spit out the question." Liyoku's muscles did not loosen; rather, they tightened.

"Why are the creators making stupid things even though they aren't even strong enough to oppose anyone? Like Weber and Watcher."

The angel rubbed her cheek. "I don't get their logic. Does being a True Reality's Fragment make you unhinged?"

"I guess they have their own taste." Liyoku rushed forward, aiming for her face.

"Surface is very important." She tilted herself left and snapped her fingers. White feathers started to form in the space below them, creating a surface.

"I need to end this fight quickly." The feathers started to turn green in colour, revealing how poisoned they were.

She tried to hit an elbow strike on the right side of his forehead. He did not give her the chance. He reappeared behind her, aiming for her waist.

"Are we playing a dodge game?" She casually turned toward him without even bothering to be fast.

"I don't remember clearly, but a change happens when the World Ruler comes back to life, and you don't seem to have that."

While she was speaking, Liyoku reappeared behind her, slamming a kick into her waist, then reappeared in front of her, slamming another brutal strike.

Is she even taking this seriously?

As he proceeded to land another strike, he coughed. Blood poured out of his mouth.

The angel crashed onto the feather surface. She stood, turned her gaze to Liyoku, whose legs were already half green. The colour seemed to be growing further, though he was regenerating at the same time, making the process slightly slow.

"You could reconstruct your cells through regeneration but couldn't detox the poison."

She lunged forward, aiming for his neck, ready to end the battle right away.

"The feathers don't need to hit you. They were already affecting you just by you standing on them."

Liyoku reappeared far away from her, though still on the feathers. The poison was spreading, blurring his thoughts, decision-making, and consciousness.

"Enough is enough. Second phase." As those words left the angel's mouth, tiny little wings began to grow on her waist, though her actual wings did not regenerate—they were gone forever.

She launched herself forward, severing both of his hands. However, she hadn't used any sword, just her hands. Nevertheless, his hands regenerated in the blink of an eye.

"You will die eventually. I won't let you heal yourself. I will slice your hands until your body is filled with poison." She straightened her palms, launching herself forward again.

What should I do? I couldn't make a decision. Teleport away, but she is faster now.

Liyoku's mind was clouded now, unable to think clearly. His regeneration was just making his brain work harder as it was being overpowered by the poison's speed to spread itself.

Both of his hands as well as his neck were sliced. He still regenerated. She severed them again. He regenerated again.

He was being slashed before his mind could even form a thought. The poison was spreading slowly, like a timer of his death.

She was far faster now than he could have comprehended. As Liyoku's body was still on the feathers that just accelerated the poison's speed to spread itself, it had already reached his throat. The poison drifted him closer to death, closer and closer.

Then the angel stopped slashing him. His body did not react. It fell onto the surface. The green was not on his whole body, though there were a bunch of large green spots on his body.

"Okay, you are dead." She brushed her hand on her mouth unnecessarily.

The feather surface began to vanish into the darkness. The angel looked at the glowing dot—the sun—before she vanished at a speed that even light might take years to catch up with her.

Liyoku's lifeless body drifted, floating in space, no longer holding desires, no longer thinking to save the children.

The angel had already reached the blue planet. She stared at it.

"This planet sure is something." She said and then turned toward the direction she had just come from, as if she could see Liyoku drifting in space.

He was. The poison was still spreading inside him regardless of him already being dead. The Webers still roamed. The Watcher might still be laughing somewhere in space. Then something cracked into the darkness. The Cosmic Sphere appeared.
