Knock Knock
"You may enter" Killian answered, I opened the office door and walked in. He was standing, looking out the window. He seemed lost in thought. I really had to know what exactly I was working with here. I could not let myself be blindsided. I decided to bite the bullet and just ask.
"Mr. Remington, may I have a word with you?"
He turned around and looked at me, then smiled and gestured towards the cream colored couch. I walked towards it and sat. Waiting for him to join me. I was not going to tell him about my transmigration, I had a clear mindset. I just wanted to know how honest he would be with me. My honesty would be based on his.
"Mr. Remington, earlier you mentioned that you had a bad premonition and wanted me to stay by your side. Can you tell me about that?"
He stared at me for a long time, honestly it felt like 5 minutes but I'm sure it was shorter.
Just when I thought he would not say anything, he smiled. He took a deep breath and said "Do you believe in reincarnation?" I was struck dumb. He was actually telling me he was reborn? Where was his vigilance?
"I do, anything is possible in this world" I said
"Well then, you just made this much easier to talk about. I am not sure if I was reborn or if I had a nightmare. Let's just go with a nightmare. In my dream, the world went to shit. Zombies were lurking around, killing people. There was no government to rely on. Humans DNA mutated and some received elemental powers to help them fight against the Zombies. It will all start November 3rd. In my dream, all communication ceased to exist on this day. November 5th, the sky would be painted red and people will turn into zombies."
He took a deep breath, ran his right hand through his hair and said "I know this sounds crazy, but I have a feeling you won't survive this. I wanted to keep you with me and give you a chance at survival"
I was looking at him with a stunned expression. Obviously not at the fact that this was going to happen, but at the fact that he was so honest with me. 'What an honest man' I thought. I liked this boss of mine. He was really nice. He shared his premonition with me just to keep me safe. I considered telling him about my space but then thought it was best to keep that a secret. Although I do dislike when female leads would wait till chapter 400 or so to talk about their space, I also understood the reason why. Let's be logical here, this world is obviously not just a novel. If it was, why would I be able to feel pain? Whose to say that a novel is not just another world in a book. I mean, I literally transmigrated from my world to this novel. That's already something believed to be impossible. So the impossible is possible. I had to be careful with this god sent gift at all cost. Although I can help save lives, It could very well cost me mine.
I looked at him and said "I see. I really have to get home and get things sorted out. To be honest with you, I had a similar dream last night. Not as detailed as yours, but I did dream about an apocalypse. I am a big believer that dreams always convey messages. I already started purchasing items, however are you going to stay with me as a team or are you going to be independent?" I gave him a little insight. I wanted to keep him by my side. I had a hunch that we were meant to be a team and I was okay with that. I mean, why would I not trust him when he shared such news with me. I hoped we could become friends and not just be co-workers. He seemed like a good friend to have in chaotic times.
"Ahh, that explains why you were so calm this morning. Yes, I also started purchasing important survival kits and other items. I opened a storage unit to put everything in there, but time is tight. Honestly, there is only so much we can hoard. Since I have more details of this disaster, I suggest we start forming teams now. To be honest with you, I cannot trust my family, so I am not informing them of this impending doom. In my dream, they all betrayed me and caused my death. I would be stupid to go to them after that warning."
'Perfect' I thought to myself. This is exactly what I needed. I needed people I could trust near me. In the novel, the female lead murdered me and got away with it. I had to make sure that I was around trusted people. I could not let that future happen.
"I also think that we should form a team. However, I do have family I want to inform. If possible, I'd like to have them in our team. My family is trustworthy and I refuse to leave them behind. If it's okay with you, I will head out and inform them so we can purchase more items." I said as I stood up and got ready to walk away. I knew he would not reject my request. Given how honest he has been with me, it spoke volumes of his character.
"No problem, as long as they are not a threat to our survival, I can accept them. However, I do have a minor problem. I hope you would be kind enough to help me with that" he said.
"Go ahead" I said.
"Well, you see. My family is currently staying at my estate. Once the apocalypse hits, many zombies will roam around the villa. I carry all my personal essentials with me and do not really need to go home. I was wondering if you have a place I can stay? The apocalypse is in less than three days. It would be smart to stay together. Will that be okay with you?"
My mind went blank. I forgot that in order to be a team, we had to be together at all times. I did not take this into account. Does this mean I have to stay with my adopted family as well? Will I have to stay with the female lead? My future murderer? Nope, no can do.
