She let out a soft scoff. "Vivian looks plain. That kind of face… I've seen it before. Women like her get close for money, for status. You shouldn't let her fool you."
The air turned cold.
Finnick's gaze hardened instantly, sharp enough to cut. "Don't say her name like that again," he said, his voice low and dangerous. "Or you won't get another chance to speak."
A chill ran through her.
For the first time, Yasmin realized just how deep Vivian's place was.
Her confidence cracked, and tears filled her eyes. "I'm only saying this for your sake," she cried. "You're the only one who treats me with respect. The others… they just want to use me…"
She kept going, her voice trembling, hoping it would move him.
It didn't.
His expression didn't change.
