The following evening inside the Ravenscroft mansion felt peaceful. Soft piano music played quietly somewhere downstairs while the smell of dinner still lingered lightly through the large house. For the first time in years, peace had finally become something normal inside the mansion instead of temporary.
Upstairs inside the family lounge, both children were sitting on the carpet surrounded by toys. Little Sebastian Ravenscroft laughed loudly while trying to stack wooden blocks taller than himself.
Beside him, baby Vale junior stubbornly destroyed every tower he built immediately afterward. "No! Sebastian Junior complained seriously. Vale Junior clapped happily anyway. Vivian laughed softly from the couch while watching them. They were growing fast now. Already speaking little words. Already running carelessly through both mansions like they owned the world.
