Chapter 12 - Going In

Alucard watched Skylar with wide eyes. Dracule and Elizabeth ended the last of the night creatures with Trevor's help. Sypha managed to move the castle, but only across Braila.

"Do as you're told." Sypha gritted out, even with the help of Skylar's magic, it wasn't getting any easier to fight within the castle's engine through the mirror. With a loud boom, shaking the entire hold, Sypha moved the castle to the Belmont home. Sypha let out a relieved breath.

"I did it." Sypha breathed. Alucard caught the mirror before it fell.

"You did, but where did you place it?" Skylar asked, looking at Sypha.

"Right on top of us," Sypha said, clapping her hands. Skylar made a choked noise. Sypha realized the mistake. "Oh, mm. Yes. I landed it on the surface, right above this underground space that's probably only held up by wood and dirt."

"Let's go, we have the world to save," Skylar said. Sypha ran ahead, and Alucard looked at the mirror as the image faded to dark. "Alucard, we have to go."

Alucard turned to Skylar, and they ran to the exit. Skylar glanced back to make sure Alucard was still there behind her. The group came together at the bottom of the hold, and the stairs out were destroyed now. Before anyone could try, a shriek came from above the hold opening. A creature flew down and grabbed the group. Alucard and Skylar in its front talons, Sypha and Trevor by its back talons, and Dracule and Elizabeth in its split tail.

"What the fuck?!" Dracule screamed as they were all carried out of the hold. The creature threw the group onto the grass of the surface. Skylar was up on her feet first. The creature landed before the group with a set of wings, a lion-like body, and talons instead of claws, and a split tail.

"Aren't you a sight for sore eyes," Skylar said, and the creature gave a pur noise. It turned its head and roared at the castle. The others were confused. Alucard, however, was eyeing Skylar more than being confused why she was so friendly with the creature.

"Skylar," Alucard tried to ask her.

"I'll explain later, right now we have a vampire lord to kill," Skylar said, not pointing out Dracule and Elizabeth rushing ahead. And Skylar headed for the castle, the creature ran ahead, then flew into the castle through a window. "Ready, Alucard?"

Alucard looked up at the castle as water came out through the open doors. The home he grew up in with his family, now the place he must kill his father and his sister's father to save his mother's people.

"... No," Alucard said, the look in his eyes grew sad but determined. "But let's put an end to this anyway."

The four of them made their way to the castle. While inside, Tara and her day creatures made fast work of vampires and night creatures. Tara's skills from years of fighting, and her day creatures' enhanced abilities, made fast work of the threat inside. In the middle of the fight, everyone stopped. The eyes were at the front of the castle, where the doors were open. Tara and the day creatures parted, their focus on the threat between the door and further into the castle, while the four were standing there at the center.

"Welcome to the party, Skylar," Tara said, aiming her tool at the vampires and night creatures.

"Wouldn't miss it," Skylar said to her, drawing out her sword.

"I terrify them," Trevor began. "Sypha disorients them. Alucard goes over the top, and we support him."

"Keep them from getting in our way, doable, Tara?" Skylar asked her.

"Always," Tara said, sending her day creatures forward to kill the vampires and night creatures.
