In the original The Boys, Homelander was a giant man-child, but that was only a flaw in his personality.
The Homelander in the original story wanted recognition. He wanted to be loved. It was this twisted need that allowed Vought to control him despite his overwhelming power.
Even people like Butcher could use it to keep him in check.
Without those flaws, Homelander would have crushed Butcher and overturned Vought long ago.
Aside from those flaws, Homelander was actually very smart.
He released Compound V onto the market and let terrorists obtain it, creating one superpowered criminal after another.
The purpose was to create a steady stream of "enemies" for himself.
Although the reason he created those "enemies" was probably to boost his public approval.
Still, there was no doubt about it, it was a very clever move.
Now, Alex was making the same move.
The difference was that he wasn't doing it for something as boring as popularity.
He was expanding his influence in this world. [T/N: Same thing, just sugarcoated.]
Starting with the "Shining Light Army," he would bring a large number of extremist organizations under his control.
Then he would become the ruler of the dark world.
At that point, if anyone stepped forward to oppose him, Alex could simply say, "Everyone in the open and in secret works for me. How are you going to fight me?"
At that moment, a reporter on TV was conducting random street interviews, asking people what they thought of Homelander.
When they interviewed a man, he shouted excitedly, ["Guys, aren't you worried that Homelander might destroy this country, this world?"]
["He has that much power. If one day he's in a bad mood and decides to start the apocalypse, what are we supposed to do?"]
The TV suddenly cut to a commercial. Clearly, the media did not like that kind of statement.
Alex smiled. There were plenty of "Homelander apocalypse theories" online as well.
Some people had even created a website dedicated to discussing how to survive if Homelander decided to destroy the world.
Every time Alex heard those claims, he wanted to laugh.
He really couldn't understand why he would want to destroy the world.
What benefit would he get from it?
If the world was gone, who would provide services for him?
Besides, he had no interest in a world full of ruins.
On the other hand, some people always treated him as an imaginary enemy. The Department of Defense was especially good at that.
Alex also knew the Department of Defense had been doing things behind the scenes, such as that pharmaceutical company researching the "Chimera Project."
If Alex really wanted to destroy the world, one million-ton "heat vision" blast would be enough to vaporize this country.
Why would he keep turning a blind eye to what they were doing?
To Alex, the current The Boys universe was a dungeon he could clear whenever he wanted.
The reason he wasn't actively dealing with those people in the Department of Defense was simply because he viewed it as an interesting game to pass the time.
Otherwise, life would be too boring.
Being invincible was that lonely.
After breakfast, Alex got up and left.
Before leaving, he quietly used the power of "Mental Invasion" and left a message for Levin.
["Keep an eye on them."]
Back at Seven Tower, Alex thought for a moment.
"The experimental base on plot N174 has already begun construction."
"Angelina is also recruiting a scientific research team."
"The issue with the 'Xenomorphs' is temporarily resolved. Even if Wrath and the others come here from outer space, it probably won't happen anytime soon."
"I already dealt with Arnold. Although Olga Corporation has merged into Vought, I hold the controlling shares and can separate it at any time."
"As for the Department of Defense, there hasn't been any movement. They're probably thinking up some stupid plan, but they likely won't openly fall out with me anytime soon."
"The corpse Stormfront sent over is obviously not Mallory. Stormfront and that old woman Mallory are also plotting something, but like the Department of Defense, it won't produce results in a day or two. Otherwise, Stormfront would have run off already."
"Lastly, the 'Shining Light Army.' Whether it's Kenji or Kimiko, getting in touch with the Shining Light Army and having them introduce me won't be accomplished overnight."
"In other words, I don't really have anything to do for now?"
"Then maybe I'll take a look around the multiverse."
"Even if I go find Caitlin now, I might not be able to enter the multiverse."
"So I still need to use the Traveler's Ring."
"Where should I go this time?"
"I just visited the Marvel Universe. There's not much to gain from the Amazing Spider-Man Universe."
"Then DC it is."
Alex snapped his fingers.
Then he began equipping himself.
First, he tapped the Vibranium Bracelet in his hand and equipped the Vibranium Battle Suit.
Then he took out the Cape of Justice and the Hercules Bracers from his inventory and equipped them one by one.
Finally, he took out the Runestone: Heart of Winter and placed it in the runestone slot as well.
After finishing his preparations, Alex used one Skill Proficiency Essence and chose to enter the DC Universe.
A circle of black-blue flames immediately wrapped around him from the ring.
———
Almost the next second, Alex heard waves hitting the shore and saw blue skies and white clouds.
He had arrived on an island.
Alex paused for a moment. He was surprised by this spawn point and didn't know why he had ended up on a deserted island.
The last time he went to the Marvel Universe, he had appeared directly in the Dark Elves' base, which had already surprised him enough.
Now he had appeared on a deserted island. He had no idea what that was supposed to mean.
Information soon appeared on his retina.
[You have successfully entered the DC Universe with the help of the Traveler's Ring.]
[Time tracking and charges will now begin. Staying in this universe consumes 1 Dim Skill Proficiency Essence per day.]
[If you do not have enough of that essence, higher-grade essences will automatically be deducted until you leave this universe.]
[Warning: If all essences are used up, you will be forcibly returned to the main universe regardless of your wishes.]
[You have voluntarily triggered a multiverse event.]
[Event Name: Justice League.]
[Description: A disheartened Superman has chosen retirement. This sent a signal to powerful enemies. After the Mother Box was energized by you, that signal became stronger than ever. Unknown enemies are about to arrive. Evil and darkness are watching this world. Now that you have descended at this moment, which direction will you push this world's future toward? Light? Darkness? Or chaotic gray?]
[Event Requirements: None.]
[Note: You may act however you wish. The event will end when you leave this universe. Rewards will be evaluated and distributed according to your actions during the event.]
[Event Start!]
After reading the information, Alex heard some sounds.
Women's laughter.
The sound came from deeper within the island. Alex was in no hurry and walked over at an easy pace.
A short while later, he passed through a wooded area and arrived at a freshwater lake.
Several figures could be seen moving in the water by the lakeside.
All of them were women.
Swimming without any clothes on.
