Riven's POV
Kael flipped through the pages of the book in his hands while acting like I didn't exist.
I had been standing in his room for several minutes already, yet he still refused to acknowledge my presence. Honestly, he had every right to be angry, but it had been more than a day and things were still unbearably tense between us.
The atmosphere inside the room felt suffocating.
The crackling fire at the corner did little to warm the coldness between us, while the dim candlelight only made the shadows around him look darker.
Kael sat near the table with one leg crossed over the other, his expression unreadable as he continued scanning the pages before him.
God knows there was nothing that good in those papers he was holding.
If someone else walked in right now, they would think he was calm.
I knew better.
Kael only became this quiet whenever he was trying extremely hard not to lose control.
"Kael," I finally called out, breaking the silence between us.
