"Thank you..."
Faye Vaughn leaned back, but Finn Hawthorne caught and steadied her.
"Why are you backing away? You think I'm going to eat you?"
Finn's tone was harsh, a subconscious attempt to hide his own discomfort.
He pulled his hand back, his palm burning as if her soft touch still lingered.
Her waist was so slender.
'If I'd squeezed harder just now, could I have wrapped one hand all the way around it?'
Finn's mind raced, and he completely forgot what they were talking about. He cleared his throat, opened a drawer, and shoved a concert ticket at Faye.
"New Year's Eve, you're free, right? I'm taking you to a concert."
His tone was domineering, as if he expected her to say yes.
Faye took the ticket and glanced down at it, surprised. "Tickets for this artist's concerts are incredibly hard to get. I heard they're setting off fireworks at this New Year's Eve show. It's supposed to be really romantic."
