"I'm scared of being alone," Faye Vaughn declared, her tone leaving no room for argument. "You're sleeping with me."
Liam Linden froze.
'What...did she mean by that?'
But regardless of what she meant, he couldn't just shamelessly climb into bed with her.
Liam Linden's face went taut. He turned expressionlessly and grabbed the folding chair from against the wall.
Once unfolded, the chair could barely pass for a narrow, single bed.
"You can go wash up first," Liam Linden said, pouring the boiled water into a disposable cup. "It's still very hot."
Faye Vaughn watched him moving about. When she didn't see him get a blanket from anywhere, she asked quizzically, "Don't you need a blanket at night?"
The folding chair was hard to begin with. Without a quilt for padding, it would be painfully uncomfortable to sleep on.
Besides, with no blanket at all, it'd be a miracle if he didn't wake up freezing in the middle of the night.
