Faye Vaughn caught up, grabbing the back of Liam Linden's shirt. "Wait for me. I'm a little scared."
Liam Linden resisted the urge to turn and pull her along, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "Are you dawdling here because you want those men to get a better look at you?"
Faye Vaughn hit his back in frustration. "Shut up. Don't say another word."
'He never has anything nice to say.'
'Such a difficult personality.'
Liam Linden strode forward, seemingly annoyed at Faye Vaughn's slow pace. He snatched the backpack slung over her shoulder. "Stop making trouble for me. You'll get robbed carrying your bag like that."
The weight lifted from Faye Vaughn's shoulder, and her steps grew lighter as well.
Her backpack had been stuffed with things, and it was very heavy. 'Could he be worried I'd get tired?'
Gazing at Liam Linden's straight back, Faye Vaughn's lips curved into a small smile. "Thank you."
Liam Linden's tall frame stiffened slightly.
'What is she thanking me for?'
