Chapter 43 - The Night He Almost Fell

Inside a room that felt warm and quiet, a bookshelf stood neatly in one corner. Catherine walked slowly past the rows of books. Her hand occasionally brushed against the neatly arranged spines.

Then she reached for a book she had been looking for.

Wuthering Heights, a popular novel written by Emily Brontë and first published in 1847.

"Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same." Catherine read the line, one that held deep meaning for her.

After that, she looked for a place to sit on one of the chairs in the room. She had read this book countless times, never getting bored. More precisely, she had run out of things to read, since she had barely left the house for the past three years.

"Miss Catherine…"

Someone approached, but Catherine did not close her book. She ignored the presence of her maid.

"Mr. Morgan is calling for you. He asks you to come to the living room."
