Lucien grumbled, "Well, in case anyone cares to hear my humble opinion, I dare say she's the one." The way she had made him feel when the knight refused to respond to her question had sent shivers down his spine.

Xerian shot his brother a terrifying glare. His silver eyes glowed with contempt. "Will you shut your mouth and let the adults speak," Xerian complained to Lucien, who rolled his eyes and clicked his tongue at his brother.

"We're the same age, you fool," Lucien glowered back, blowing air to remove the tendrils that had fallen over the left side of his face.

Xerian exhaled deeply. Sometimes he wished his mother had stopped at only him, instead of adding one more headache to his already full plate, making his work as the King's Karka much more difficult. His beloved brother had named too many girls as the Golden Rose to be taken seriously.
