"What was that about?" I typed quickly to Annette, my heart racing slightly.
She hadn't been staying with us for some weeks. She had been staying over at Jade's place. I hadn't brought it up because I felt awful that my best friend needed a break from me.
I had pretty much dragged Annette into this mess, so I hadn't wanted to drag her any further.
With the funeral, the crazy stunt Devin pulled by burning the house down, and Angel ratting her mother out, we had only discussed it briefly once, and that time felt like a thousand years ago.
That was the whole reason we had planned to hang out this evening. Me, her, Sasha, and Jade.
But what was that text about?
"It's nothing. Just get your ass here," she texted in reply.
Pushing away from my desk, I strode into Finnegan's office. He was still at his desk, staring at his laptop with that focused frown I loved but was starting to wish he didn't wear all the time.
