Chapter 16 - Final Tutorial Mission (Part 1)

It was 11:40 AM..

The sun hung high in the sky, casting a golden beam of light across to the other side of the world..

-

Water splashed across his face. Miles looked straight at the mirror.

His black hair fell neatly around his forehead, damp strands sticking slightly to his temples. His face held still, eyes locked on the glass as if he could press right through it and meet the other him standing on the other side.

That reflection didn't just mimic his features; it seemed to carry a weight he couldn't place, his shoulders a little straighter, gaze a little sharper, as if living a life he'd only dared to imagine in quiet moments.

"Is this how I look now...? How come I've changed so much? I look sharper-could this be the result of all, I've been through until now?.."

Miles gazed through the mirror, watching as it mirrored his every subtle movement.

'It's best If I tread lightly'

Yeah..

If not I might lose myself..

Completely...

-

Darkness loomed over the corridor, where shafts of sunlight streaming through the window were the only source of light cutting through the deep shadows.

Within the corridor, the door to room 206 swung open with a soft creak.

His face was hidden behind a balaclava, only his eyes was covered by the night vision, scanned the empty hallway with cold, practiced focus, pausing for a moment where the sunlight hit the floor before he moved forward in silent, deliberate steps.

Once he reached the staircase, he immediately started his descent down, his boots finding each step with precise, practiced ease.

His M17's tactical light was flickered off, to not attracted any Cursed on the ground floor.

With a steady step, Miles reached the floor below.

The first thing that came into his view was the open main door of the apartment, its frame was hanged ajar; as if being forced open.

The floor is smudge of blood as everything below is a mess. Outside, The Cursed was tumbling over as it walked forward.

Then.. A low, guttural sound echoed from left side of the hallway.. his M17 already raised high in a steady two-handed grip.

Miles' eyes locked straight infront, slowly. He moved closer into the wall for a bit of camouflaged.

With his back pressed against the cool concrete wall, Miles held his breath, his every muscle coiled tight as a spring. The guttural sound rumbled closer, low and wet, mixed with the scrape of something heavy dragging across the tile floor.

Through the lens of his night vision, he caught a flicker of movement at the hallway's end.

A Cursed Entity emerged from the shadows, its body twisted and misshapen, one arm elongated to nearly twice its natural length, fingers curled into razor-sharp claws.

It's distracted, Miles thought, shifting his weight carefully. His finger hovered over the trigger, but he held fire, every shot was precious, and if he missed. Even with silencer, he would attract its attention and the noise if he fought him? It would attract the nearby quickly and it was outside...

He inched sideways along the wall, keeping to the deepest part of the shadow that was not exposed by the sunlight.

The Cursed let out another low growl, its clawed hand scraping against the floor as it staggered toward the light. The moment, its back is expose right infront of him.

He slowly slipped past it, his boots barely making a sound against the blood-smeared tiles. He reached the open main door and peered outside, three more Cursed were stumbling through the street, their movements clumsy but relentless.

'There's 3 Cursed outside.. I should deal with the remaining Cursed.' Miles thought.

Miles ducked back inside for a split second, pulling a small device from his pocket, his phone; He tapped the screen once, and a faint blue glow lit up his face. The Tutorial Mission Progress is nearing completion.

He took a deep breath, his phone tucked securely in his pants socket, and silently walked back to the hallway. His eyes stare locked on the expose back of the growling Cursed; He neared closer with each seconds, but the moment he reached 4 meters away from it.

It turned around, but he was ready. His M17 was raised high and aimed right to the head, it was ready to fire at anytime and any moment.

And once, it fully turned around; its grotesque face twisting into a snarl, mouth stretching wide to unleash that shriek, he squeezed the trigger.

Pew.

[What do you think, would happen after this mission? Any Major? Recognition of the App? Or Nothing, much and he could simply claim new mission.]
