Under the plane was a ginormous fire, as lumber stacked up while being burnt down.
A huge campfire was bui for the ongoing party, as men and women walked and talked around it.
While the bright light from the dancing flame illuminated the dark and every forest. Yet the people knew no monsters would come to them.
This was because the forest animals were afraid of the fire. Something that they learned while using their campfire every night.
Although that campfire was much smaller than the huge wall of fire standing in the middle of the party.
While Alex walked around the fire with a slab of meat in his hands. While primitive it was fitting for their situation.
Alex also didn't care whether the meat was from a five star restaurant or hunted down by him.
As to Alex food was food and only the seasonings really mattered. Sadly they had no access to salt or pepper on the continent.
Despite this Alex was still devouring the food in his hand. Oblivious to anything that happened around him.
Yet something or rather someone would always catch his attention. As Lyra's intimidating presence notified Alex of her aproach.
As he quickly turned to look at her.
"Hey, what are you doing alone?"
Lyra pressed Alex while quickly approaching him.
"Who am I supposed to be with?"
"Anyone, that's the point of a party, duhh."
Lyra spoke sarcastically finding the ways of a party second nature to her. Except this was Alex's first party other then a birthday party were he was surrounded by all his friends.
Lyra on the other hand had participated in many parties while with and not with her family.
Lyra suddenly realized that he must've never been to a real party before.
Wow being an orphan without knowing your family before must've sucked, no parties that'd be horrible.
"I'm assuming this is your first real party, so I recommend just going around and taking to people, get to know who your leading."
Lyra gave a recommendation, trying to get Alex used to parties. While Alex expecting a party to be more fun realized his mistake.
As at first Alex just walked around with no care in the world. This and been extremely boring fo Alex, other then eating the food.
Now Alex knew that it was only boring due to his lack of socialization. Which was basically the essence of any party.
"Alright let's see if these parties live up to my expectations."
Alex gave Lyra a forced grin before walking off.
Oh I wonder how he'll adapt to this situation, haha.
Lyra was eager to see the outcome of his first party. As she waited for failure, yet she also rooted fo him, hoping he'd get the hang of it.
With Lyra's perspective of Alex being stone cold, emotionless, and uncaring. Lyra was now putting this to the test.
She wanted to know if Alex could act human, showing emotions and social bonds. If not then it'd be truly hard to become friends with him.
Alex in the other hand walked up a a lady holding her baby. Specifically remembering her on the plane, when her baby had stopped him from sleeping.
While annoyed at the time Alex felt bad for both her and the baby. As to be put in their situation as a mother or child was a death sentence.
Alex just wanted to check up on her and ponder her situation. Really he was just going to try to let loose for the first time.
Alex then walked up to the lady and her baby.
"How have you two been since we arrived at this unexpected vacation."
As he pronounced vacation he drenched the word in sarcasm. Making sure she'd know his joke, trying to ease her nerves.
While the mother looked up to stare at Alex.
"Thank you for asking, although I do have to say for a vacation it's been rather hard, especially because I'm unable to hunt or offer any services, so I have just resorted to begging."
Alex heard the sorrow tone in her voice, feeling terrible for their situation. As he watched the small child move around in its mothers arms something broke in Alex.
With the tough facade he had subconsciously put on after arriving on the unknown continent breaking.
The harsh truth of their situation had broken his tough act, as he realized his stupidity to try and climb above the rest had caused their horrid situation.
Alex now, more then ever wanted to destroy the merit system he had created. Now he just wanted to provide to the entire population of survivors.
"Hey don't worry the merit systems about to be destroyed anyway."
Alex had now made his decision, it was going to be a gift to the mother and her kid, a gift before their departure, a gift to all the survivors.
Finally Alex had started to be human once again. Discarding his thoughts to be the strongest, as that would not help him.
As the pain of watching those around you die because of your actions is a fate worse then death, and cannot be fixed with just strength.
While the mother hearing this was suddenly overjoyed, as it meant she could stop begging and instead just receive food as any normal person.
"Thank you so much, I thought we were going to starve soon enough."
"No problem, it was really serving to destroy ourselves rather then encourage growth."
"Although may I ask why you were on this plane?"
Alex decided to keep their conversation going while also learning more about the two.
"Well me and my kid were just heading to New York to visit my parents, so they could see my newborn, while my husband and two other kids are still at home."
Saying that she suddenly became sorrowful, while Alex regretted asking the question.
"Sorry for asking, I'm gonna go get some water, I hope your kids grows up big and strong."
Saying the Alex realized his mistake, as he had presumed the kid to be a male, ignoring the fact it could've been a little baby girl.
"Sorry I forgot to ask but what gender is that little guy?"
Alex wanted to prevent any further mistake, while the mother giggled as his previous assumption.
"Well it's a boy, so I do hope he grows big and strong, thanks for asking though, and I hope we get out of this place soon, it's not as good as a vacation as I thought it'd be."
Hearing this Alex laughed at her joke before politely leaving to grab some water. While the reason for Alex's quick escape was ngl because of his bad question but instead something else.
As Alex had a horrible soar throat, so to temporarily get rid of it Alex went to grab some water.
As he found the huge tub and found his water bottle laying next to it. He then drank he huge sip of water, quenching his thirst, whirl momentarily relieving him of his pain.
Alex was the approached by Lyra who had happy smile plastered on her face.
"You see that's how you socialize, props to you."
"Ha thanks, got any tips miss teacher."
Although Lyra knew he was joking she decided to play along.
"Well actually I do, you forgot to ask for her name, that was extremely impolite, so you get detention."
Hearing this Alex was both stunned by her acting, and that he had somehow forgotten to ask the women's name.
Alex suddenly realized how horrible he was at talking to people. Although this day was truly a great day for practice.
"Well looks like I'm going to have to go at it again."
Lyra pushed him forward causing Alex to start walking towards another person. This time it was a rugged man.
"Hey how's the party so far."
Alex directed his question to the man in front of him. The man then turned toward Alex before looking him up and down.
"Well it's fine, but there's no alchohol."
The man said this while letting out a sigh.
"Sadly this is the best we can do in our situation, and can I get your name?"
"My names tom, and I understand, I only wish we had some, it'd make this party a whole lot better, although I doubt you can relate you look pretty young to part with alcohol."
The ma laughed at his last remark, reminiscing about his days when he was younger.
"I'll have to agree with that I'm a bit to young to indulge myself to alchohol, although I don't doubt what you say, hopefully when exploring the wilderness we can find the grapes to ferment."
The man seemed hopeful after hearing this, then a question suddenly entered his mind.
"Why are we having this party when we're leaving in a week? Shouldn't we have it on the day before leaving."
"Well first I wanted to host this party to encourage people to leave, so I needed it to happen quick, but I also don't want to stay up all night and then wake up in the morning and leave instantly, that'd be such a hassle."
The man nodded realizing the reason behind the parties time. While another question arose within him.
"Also didn't you say we'd be honoring those who died?"
Hearing this Alex suddenly realized his mistake, as he had forgotten all about honoring those that had died.
Yet Alex kept his cool as he didn't want to tarnish his reputation.
"It's about to happen soon, while I should probably go prepare, have a good rest of your night sir."
Alex left in a hurry as he climbed into the plane and retrieved the bodies that had been kept in the cockpit.
Dragging them down one by one Alex caught the attention of Lyra. As she realized why was happening and quickly came to his aid.
As Lyra started helping Alex move the bodies over to the party. Then once they were all in place Alex ran the the middle of the group and got their attention.
"It's time to honor those who have passed, and I think the first one to be honored should be the pilot, who died before even reaching the island, so if he has any family here please speak up."
Alex doubted anyone would speak up, but he did it as a formality. Yet unexpectedly someone did speak.
"He was a my father, and knowing him he'd probably want to be buried with his plane, so to honor him would you all help me bury him under the plane."
A young woman had stood up before walking to the man. She also was one of the flight attendants of the plane, and the daughter of the deceased pilot.
Respecting her wishes the crowd of people started digging a hole with whatever ruins they dint care about.
Once the hole was dug the man was buried before they went ont th next person. This repeated a couple of times.
Where either there family or the survivors chose to bury or cremate the poor souls.
Yet surprisingly after it was over the party continued strong. As it continued into the depths of night, before the party eventually died out.
