AMARIS STORME
The moon goddess freaking hates me!
I knew I was never her favorite because of the sorry excuse of a family I was born into and the suffering and torture I had to endure from them.
But I heard she was kinder when it came to giving mate bonds.
Some girls get sold and discover their owner was to be their fated mate. The ultimate fairy tale.
That wasn't my case. Not only does the man I am to be mated only needed a breeder but his sons happen to be my fated mates. I knew Alpha Corvin had sons from the little research I had done about him but I had somehow assumed they were young adults not two grown men.
Ryker and Rowan Grave were my fated mates.
I exhaled and forced a smile even though my mind was tumbling to hell, "Hello," I choked out the only word I could utter.
There was no response and that was when I lifted my gaze to finally meet theirs and I caught a glimpse of them.
I didn't know who was Ryker or Rowan because they were identical but they were both unnervingly handsome. Tall, dark haired, with a physical presence that made them look more like gods than mortals.
But they were not the same. One of them had a stillness to him like he was always a half second ahead of his own reaction. His eyes when they found mine were careful and accessing me at the same time, but they had a warmth to it that I couldn't explain.
The other one looked at me like he was scrutinizing me, ripping me apart limbs for limbs, and putting me together in one breath. His gaze was direct and unhurried but they weren't cold, no, this was different his gaze brought chills with them.
My fingers curled into my palm. I needed to look away. I did not look away. They all sat down without any of them uttering a word back to me.
"Amaris," Alpha Corvin finally spoke, breaking the chilling silence in the room. "My sons aren't in support of me getting mated again, so don't take their silence personal," he didn't sound apologetic, it was more like he was informing me.
"Sure," I muttered lowering my gaze down, still unable to say anything intelligent as I was still processing the messed up situation I was in. The twins not in support of their father being mated were the least of my troubles right now.
"Amaris," an unfamiliar voice called out and I lifted my gaze to meet the twin with warm eyes staring at me.
"I am Rowan, I promise this isn't personal or about you," he sounded apologetic, his eyes fell on me with a sympathetic gaze.
Before I could respond the other twin who had the cold glare which I now know to be Ryker scoffed "Oh please, Rowan, spare her the fucking diplomacy. I am sure she can take it all, can't you, Amaris,"
The way he called my name, the way he spoke to me. His eyes darted at me, his hands on the table which was laid with untouched food. His gaze penetrated my soul. Stripping me bare. Not to talk of what had happened earlier.
"I am sorry," I muttered, I didn't know why I was apologizing but it was one of those things I did when my brothers would bully me and I couldn't take it anymore. I stood up from the chair deciding this was more than I can handle,"
"Sit the hell down," Alpha Corvin ordered in a loud voice that startled me into another abyss of my suffering.
I stared at Ryker and Rowan but there was no reaction from them, not even a flinch. I lowered myself down back to the dining chair.
"If you are unable to take a comment from my sons, how then do you want to be Luna?"
I wanted to apologize again, instead I bit my lips. Ryker, who was now digging into his plate, dropped his fork and stared at me.
"So when is this mating ceremony?" He asked his father but his gaze were still stripping me, I felt naked at this point.
I wondered if any of them was going to talk about the elephant in the room. I hope not because I would stab myself with one of the knives and bleed to death.
"Preparation is being made to have it by the next full moon which would happen in twenty eight days," Alpha Corvin hummed accompanied with the sound of him chewing salad.
"Will you fuck her before then so she can bare you an heir or after?" Ryker blurted and the room went silent again. Alpha Corvin hand froze mid-chop. Rowan, who had not started eating eyes darted at Ryker.
"What I do is none of your business, Ryker." Alpha Corvin responded coldly.
"Of course it isn't, go fuck her and bare heirs because you don't want to hand over your precious pack to us," Ryker retorted, his fist clenching the fork.
That was when something clicked, why would Alpha Corvin want me to bear him another heir if he had two sons who could take over from him?
"Ryker, that's enough, or else.." Alpha Corvin snapped.
Ryker chuckled in a maniacal way, "or else what?" He dared, staring at his father dead in the eyes "You think I am that bitch who you can tell to sit and I would, you don't have that power,"
I stared at Alpha Corvin, his eyes brows furrowed, you could visibly see his rage and Ryker sat up like a wolf ready to lunge at him. The darkness in his eyes unlike anything I had seen before and immediately shifting to red. The same red eyes I had seen earlier on.
These men couldn't stand the guts of one another one could tell but was it because his father wanted to get mated to me and have another heir or was there more?
Alpha Corvin stood up, tossing his chair from the way and without any word he strode away slamming the door behind him.
Then it was just the three of us. Me and my fated mates.
I lowered my gaze, I had to leave here, whatever it was between them and the Alpha I wanted no part of it and no way would I sit here and be the one at the receiving end of Ryker's Rage.
I gently stood up when I heard a heavy pounce on the table, vibrating it and sending an unnerving chill that pulsated from my veins and disrupted my brains.
"Where the hell do you think you are going, Amaris?" Ryker growled at me. "Or should I say, Mate."
