Leon's Pov:
I ignored Emily's message, but it still lingered at the back of my head.
Brielle wasn't one to show up unannounced. Even if she had nothing to say, her presence definitely meant she was trying to send a message. I didn't like that.
After about an hour, I texted Emily back.
"Is she still there?"
"She just left."
"She said she'll be back in an hour."
Perfect.
I spent the little time I had left with Ava.
She was ecstatic. She bottled her flowers, looked at the gifts over and over, took multiple pictures of the proposal sign that I was sure she wasn't going to post, and told Pearl how cute I was for the millionth time.
I couldn't help but smile at her quirky behavior. She was the sweetest and most beautiful woman I had ever met.
That's why meeting with Brielle in secret didn't sit right with me. I didn't want to lie to her, but I also didn't want to stir up uncomfortable conversations.
