Of course, Ellen wanted to say yes to this special invitation. She thought of it as if Flint was asking her out on a date, even though they hadn't yet confessed their feelings. She smiled brightly at the invitation and didn't want to refuse. Without thinking, she nodded and smiled shyly.
"So, you didn't call me to talk about work?" she asked softly.
Flint smiled awkwardly, folding his arms. "This is the job you're supposed to do for me."
"You consider this a job?"
"Even though I asked you earlier, I hope you'll say yes to my invitation. Because I really need someone by my side."
Ellen folded her arms. "If I may ask, why do you want someone to accompany you? Does the invitation require you to bring someone?"
"No. It's just that I don't feel comfortable attending an important party that I don't like. That's why I need someone to talk to during the party."
