"What again?" I groaned.
"The mines collapsed last night," Tala responded. "An explosion destroyed several tunnels, and a large portion of the mine caved in. Several workers and guards were injured. The section that collapsed was the one where that mad Omega had been assigned. The guards believe he died in the collapse."
"Interesting," I murmured, although my heart had skipped several beats.
Jaxon was many things, but he was not weak, and he certainly was not someone who would simply die in a cave-in. As Alpha, Jaxon had clawed his way through every challenge life had thrown at him with a stubbornness that bordered on insanity. If anything, the collapse made me even more certain that something else was happening.
What I wanted to know now was whether he was working alone or with someone else. I knew Jaxon well enough to understand that he would not stay hidden forever.
