Mary's eyes sparkled with a mix of amusement and something darker as she studied Damian's face. The quiet intensity in his voice when he spoke of the Dark World only made the heat between them sharper.
She shifted on his lap, feeling the solid strength of his thighs beneath her, the faint press of his growing interest against her hip.
"I'll tell you more about it later. For now, let's just think about us."
Mary leaned in and claimed his mouth. The kiss was slow at first, lips parting, tongues brushing and then deepened as she tasted the wine on him and the lingering smoke.
She nipped his lower lip, then trailed her mouth down the column of his throat, right where she had bitten him earlier. The small mark was already darkening. She licked it once, slow and deliberate, before sliding off his lap and sinking to her knees between his spread thighs.
