Chapter 23 - Chapter 22

Sasuke leaped back, a wave of sand smashing the ground where he had stood a moment ago.

Flashing through seals, Sasuke brought his hands up to his mouth and shot a fireball large enough to obscure him as he ran behind it.

Garra didn't move, arms crossed as his sand rose to defend against the large fireball, not noticing that Sasuke had used the fireball as cover and was now behind him.

Sasuke kicked towards Garra's head, his kick stopped by the sand, forcing him to leap back as the sand tried to latch onto him.

Garra craned his head to look at Sasuke over his shoulder, a crazed smile on his face.

"Mother wants your blood."

Sasuke narrowed his eyes, the black pools bleeding into the red of his sharingan.

Sasuke snatched a ninja wire from his pouch, weaving it through a handful of kunai before launching himself into the air. He flung them in rapid succession, a deadly fan of metal. Clang-clang-clang! The kunai collided mid-air, ricocheting into impossible trajectories. Landing silently, Sasuke clamped the taut wire between his teeth, all kunai now perfectly under his control and around Garra as the sand wrapped around his skin.

Weaving through a series of hand seals, Sasuke's chest rose.

'Fire Style: Dragon Fire Jutsu'

The roaring flames went along the wire and slammed into a hasty wall of sand from Garra, the sand melting to glass as Sasuke poured more chakra into the jutsu.

"You want to get rid of my sand, but if I want sand, I'll just make more."

Garra's cold voice sounded out behind the wall of glistening glass.

Sasuke jumped back, having felt the ground underneath his feet shaking, his instincts saving his life as a hardened spike of sand shot out.

"Well, that was pointless."

Sasuke made a half ram seal, releasing the weight seal on himself.

Up in the stands, Kakashi face-palmed at his student, wondering why he didn't remove the seal before the match.

With the seal gone, Sasuke moved faster than Garra and sand could follow. He breached Gaara's ultimate defense, his fist shattering the sand, followed instantly by a thunderous kick to the ribs that sent the Jinchuriki skipping across the arena floor. Gaara barely intercepted the next strike, shielding his face just before slamming into the concrete wall.

As the crowd held its breath, the figure in the wall collapsed—a sand clone.

The true Gaara emerged behind him, raising a hand to clench a vortex of sand intended to crush Sasuke into paste. Squelch. The horrific sound of tearing flesh cut through the silence.

Genma, who had been ready to stop the match, paused, eyes wide.

Gaara's motion halted. He looked down, his expression vacant, to see a spear of lightning driven through his right shoulder.

"BLOOD, IT'S MY BLOOD!"

Garra made a sweeping motion to throw Sasuke away, his mind too turbulent to think about anything. Still, his wound at the moment, calling on his sand to envelop him, an eyeball made of sand appeared above the dome of sand as he warily watched Sasuke swipe his lightning-clad right hand, dispersing the sand that had earlier enveloped him.

Sasuke stood, ready to end this, left hand clutching the inside of his right elbow.

Inside the stadium, a signal was given, and feathers began to drift from the sky, plunging everyone unable to detect or disrupt chakra into a deep genjutsu sleep.

Up in the stands, Kankuro and Temari inwardly panicked, not knowing if Garra was fit to fight in any way, silently following their sensei Baki as the hidden Sound ninja engaged with the Leaf ninja.

- With Kakashi -

"Naruto, I want you to pay attention to Sasuke. If he runs off, follow him just to be sure. If Shukaku breaks free, stall him and try to evacuate everyone you can with shadow clones."

Naruto hurriedly nodded.

"What about you, Sensei?"

Kakashi turned, getting the information from one of his destroyed clones.

"I have to go help in the village."

Kakashi replied before rushing out, pulsing some chakra into the seal on his forearm, his new chakra blade appearing mid-run, cutting down any sound ninja who tried to stop him with ease.

Leaping from building to building, Kakashi rapidly closed in on the large serpents that were bashing through the walls when his observation haki warned him of a threat, swinging his sword with armament haki enveloping it, a wave of gold dust blown back by the force.

"The Kazekage"

Kakashi narrowed his eyes, seeing the reanimated Kage floating in the air on a platform of gold dust.

"You're Kakashi Hatake, are you not?"

Kakashi blinked, not expecting the Kazekage to be not fully under control.

"Yes, I am."

Rasa nodded, his hands moving on their own, gold dust cutting off Kakashi's escape routes.

"The goal given to me by that snake is to stall you."

Rasa didn't like Konoha and hated the idea of his Village being used, but he hated that bastard Orochimaru more.

Kakashi took a step to the side, a gold dust spear whistling past his left ear.

"Thanks for the information."

Kakashi's blade hummed as lightning enveloped the blade over the obsidian haki coating, giving the dead Rasa an ironic feeling of death.

Rasa's hands rose gradually; the gold dust that had closed off Kakashi's escape now rose into two giant fists.

Kakashi readied himself for the fists to try to crush him. Still, they did something unexpected, shooting a volley of condensed gold bullets out of the tips of all the fingers, forcing him to dodge and deflect them.

'He really was summoned just to stall me; his attacks are annoying.'

Kakashi observed as the bullets he dodged or deflected floated back to rejoin the hands.

'Endless chakra and endless attacks.'

Kakashi ran towards Rasa, the bottoms of his feet flickering with lightning as he weaved through the golden bullets.

Rasa shook his head, watching Kakashi leap up to cut him, his arms moving up to envelop Kakashi in a ball of gold mere inches away from him.

Rasa didn't bother speaking, thinking he was about to kill Kakashi, hand raised to squeeze, when a metallic hand burst through the gold ball and palmed his mouth.

'Like student, like sensei.'

Kakashi smiled, moving out of the gold dust as if it wasn't there, his whole body clad in Haki, waving his sword and slicing off Rasa's arms and legs, jumping off the falling platform of gold dust and sealing his sword back into his forearm.

Landing with the reanimated Kage, Kakashi sat him down and applied a seal to him that locked his body in place, noticing his limbs weren't regenerating.

"I don't have the time to create the seal, but this should keep you here."

Rasa groaned softly, gritting his teeth and narrowing his eyes.

"How were you able to hurt me?"

"You feel pain?"

Kakashi asked, before shaking his head, that piece of information can be thought about later, but now he needed to deal with the invading Sand ninja and snake summons.

Kakashi vaulted onto the rooftops, instantly analyzing the Leaf ninja struggling against the sand when another, more intense warning screamed—a flash of steel. He raised his blade just as a searing, high-speed slash caught him mid-air, sending him flying through and out the other side of a marketplace shop.

'Damn, who the-'

Looking up, Kakashi came face to face with his Father, Sakumo Hatake.

- Chapter End -

Hope you enjoyed the chapter. Rasa, while a kage, was greatly weakened when summoned, like Tobirama and Hashirama were the first time they were summoned. The only reason Rasa lasted that long was that Kakashi didn't get serious until the end, and Magnet Release is good at playing defense.
