It has been almost a week since Hailey confessed her feelings to Hardin and it has been the best week of her entire life, they have been closer than ever and she couldn't ask for more.
Hardin was way more gentle with her and they even went out on a few dates which made quite the headlines on the Internet.
Hailey was happy but she couldn't fully dismiss the thought of why he hated her at first. She had tried to ask him on a few occasions but he wasn't willing to tell her.
She decided to bury it cause she didn't want what was happening between them to go down the drain but she still couldn't fully dismiss the thought.
Hailey looked at her reflection in the mirror as she turned and swirled in the blue knee length gown Faye got her.
It was the same gown at the fashion show they attended and she couldn't thank Faye enough for gifting her this.
Hardin's mom, Erica had invited her for dinner and she plans on wearing this to meet her, Hardin was out of the country for a business trip at the moment.
Though he said he would be back in three days.
Hailey smiled at her reflection in satisfaction, she picked up her blue purse and left the house.
When she got to Hardin's parents place, his mom welcomed her warmly, she would never get used to how his mother treats her so warmly.
She honestly thought she would want a rich and sophisticated wife for her son but he ended up marrying nobody.
"How have you been? Sorry we haven't been in touch since you left the hospital" Erica apologized.
"It's no problem ma'am" Hailey smiled at her.
"It seems you and Hardin are getting along pretty fine, way better than the first time you both came for dinner" Erica said and Hailey blushed a little.
"Yes" she managed.
"Hardin has never had luck with women, even though he only dated one lady" Erica said and Hailey froze.
He only dated one woman?
That wasn't what she was expecting, she never asked Hardin about his past dating life cause she wasn't ready to hear about the numerous girls he had dated, after all he was a handsome billionaire.
"Things with her ended terribly and I honestly
never thought he would love again but am glad you and him are working out just fine" Erica added.
Hailey was tempted to ask about this woman but she had a feeling she wouldn't like what would come next.
"You don't have to worry, I love Hardin very much, I would never leave him" Hailey said and Erica smiled.
"Thank you" she said and Hailey nodded.
"Do you know how to bake a cake?" Erica asked suddenly and Hailey nodded, she had learnt how to do a lot of things especially related to cooking and baking
"Good, I want to make a cake for a friend of mine, her birthday is coming soon, you won't mind helping me right?" Erica said.
"Sure," Hailey said delightedly.
_________
Hailey got home pretty late cause Erica wanted a very big cake, she could have just hired someone to do it but she asked her and Hailey was happy about that.
At least was getting along with her mother in law.
When Hailey entered her phone rang and she smiled, she was expecting it to be Hardin cause he calls her every morning and evening since he traveled but her face fell when she saw it was Faye.
"Why are you calling so late?" Hailey asked immediately she picked the call but there was no response and she paused, She had sniffling.
"Is something wrong? Faye?" Hailey asked anxiously.
"Are you home?" Faye asked, her voice cracking, it was obvious she had been crying.
"Yes, but don't worry, I am coming to you right now" Hailey said and quickly left the house.
*
"What happened?" Hailey asked immediately if she saw Faye sitting on her bed, her eyes red and puffy.
She arrived here, minutes after she got the call from Faye and went straight to her bedroom.
She had come here a few times, when Faye complained she hardly visits her.
Faye couldn't speak, she just hugged Hailey who hugged her back with confusion on her face. Hailey had never seen Faye like this.
She doesn't strike as the type that would cry about anything at all so she was surprised she was crying
"It's Mark" Faye managed out and Hailey raised an eyebrow.
"What did he do?" Hailey asked.
"He has been working late lately and sometimes he spends the night in his office, I didn't really think much of it cause he has always been a workaholic but..." Faye paused as if she choked on her words.
"But... What?" Hailey asked, she had a clear prediction of what Faye would say next but she just hoped it wasn't true.
"He has been seeing Sophie" Faye said and burst into another round of tears.
"Sophie? The girl from the fashion show? His ex?" Hailey asked all at once.
"Yes" Faye said, cleaning her tears as she tried to steady her breaths.
"How do you know that?" Hailey asked and Faye took her phone she showed Hailey a picture It was a picture of Sophie and Mark in his office.
"This doesn't prove anything, Faye, they could be talking about business" Hailey said.
"She's sitting across the table from him" Hailey added but Faye wasn't having it.
"You don't understand, Mark has been a little distant and I thought it was work but it wasn't! Sophie is a fashion model while Mark owned a law
firm, completely different, what business could they be talking about!" Faye said.
"Have you talked to him?" Hailey asked.
"No, I haven't because I know he would deny it, and he isn't home now and it's already late" Faye said in frustration.
Hailey knew Faye has always been over protective of her husband and she understands why this was a problem for her, she was overthinking things.
"Call him," Hailey suggested and Faye paused.
"Call him and ask if he is in his office, if he says yes then we go there to meet him" Hailey added.
