Chapter 5 - CHAPTER FOUR: THE SYSTEM’S EYES

Morning came—but not gently. The sun rose over Aetherion as it always did, casting gold across marble towers and quiet streets. Yet beneath the beauty, something unseen had changed. The air felt… heavier likethe world was holding its breath high above the city, in the sacred tower where only the chosen could stand—The hero did not sleep. His eyes remained fixed on the horizon, where the faintest crack still lingered in the sky barely visible. But real "…It's still there."His grip tightened around the hilt of his blade. The weapon pulsed in response, its holy light flickering—not with weakness, but with uncertainty.A voice echoed behind him "You felt it too."The hero turned.

An old man stood at the entrance, cloaked in white and gold, his presence calm yet overwhelming "The High Priest…" the old man walked forward slowly, his gaze lifting toward the sky "…That is not something meant for this world."Silence stretched between them then "What is it?" the hero asked the priest didn't answer immediately because for the first time in years… he didn't know far away—Something else was searching.

The deleted devil walked through a forest now, shadows bending unnaturally around him. Birds no longer sang. The wind no longer whispered.Nature itself avoided him.Or perhaps— It couldn't understand him"…So the system tried to erase me again."

He spoke casually, as if recalling something insignificant "…And failed."

A faint flicker appeared beside him more stable this time.

Less broken.

[SYSTEM INTERVENTION UNIT: INITIALIZING]

His steps stopped.

"…Oh?"

The air shifted.

Not violently like before—

But precisely.

Controlled.

From the empty space ahead, a figure formed.

Not human.

Not fully real.

A body made of light and code, its shape constantly shifting, symbols running across its surface like living text.

Eyes—if they could be called that—locked onto him.

[TARGET IDENTIFIED: NULL ENTITY]

The devil smiled.

"So you finally sent something proper."

The figure didn't respond emotionally.

It couldn't.

[DIRECTIVE: CORRECTION]

[METHOD: ERASURE]

The forest went silent.

Completely.

Then—

It moved.

Faster than anything human.

A blur of light cutting through space itself—

But—

It passed through him.

The devil didn't move.

Didn't react.

"…Too slow."

The figure froze.

[ERROR: TARGET POSITION UNDEFINED]

He stood behind it now.

"I told you."

His voice was calm.

"You can't process something that doesn't exist."

The entity turned instantly—

Adapting.

Learning.

[UPDATING PARAMETERS]

[REATTEMPTING—]

"Stop."

The word alone—

Broke something.

The entity froze mid-motion.

Its entire form glitched violently.

"…Let me try something new."

The devil raised his hand slowly.

Not rushed.

Not forced.

Code: Null

For the first time—

The system fought back.

The entity's body expanded, symbols multiplying rapidly, layers of protection forming around it.

[DEFENSE PROTOCOL: ABSOLUTE]

The forest bent under the pressure.

Trees cracked.

The ground split.

Reality strained—

And then—

It ended.

Silence.

The entity stood still.

Untouched.

Unbroken.

For a moment—

Nothing happened.

Then—

A single line appeared across its body.

Thin.

Precise.

A cut.

Its form split.

Cleanly.

No explosion.

No resistance.

Just—

Deletion.

The two halves flickered—

And vanished.

Gone.

The forest returned to stillness.

Slowly.

Like nothing had happened.

The devil lowered his hand.

"…So that's your limit."

He turned away, unimpressed.

"You follow rules."

A step forward.

"I don't."

Behind him—

The space where the entity had existed… didn't fully recover.

A distortion remained.

Permanent.

Miles away—

Inside the sacred tower—

The High Priest collapsed.

Blood dripped from his lips.

"…Impossible…"

The hero rushed forward.

"What happened?!"

The old man's eyes trembled.

Wide with something he had never felt before.

Fear.

"…The system…"

His voice shook.

"…It was… cut."

Silence.

The hero froze.

"…That's not possible."

Nothing could harm the system.

Nothing could even reach it.

That was the law of their world.

"…Then what did this?"

The priest looked up.

Not at the sky.

But beyond it.

"…Something… outside the story."

Far away—

The deleted devil continued walking.

Unbothered.

Untouched.

"…Now you're paying attention."

His eyes glowed faintly as the world around him subtly warped with each step.

"Good."

Above all existence—

The system trembled again.

[WORLD STABILITY: 99.95%]

[SYSTEM INTEGRITY: DAMAGED]

[UNRESOLVED ANOMALY: ACTIVE]

For the first time—

The system had been wounded.

And the one who caused it…

Was just getting started.
