Chapter 7 - CHAPTER SIX:THE HUNTERS

The moment a flaw appears in a perfect system… it is hunted. Not questioned. Not understood. Erased. That was the rule. That had always been the rule. And now, for the first time since the world was written, that rule had failed.

Deep within the unseen layers of reality, something awakened. Not a person. Not a god. A function. A command given form. Cold. Precise. Absolute.

[SYSTEM DIRECTIVE UPDATED]

[TARGET: NULL]

[PRIORITY: ERASURE]

This time… it would not send one.

Far from the forest, Null walked across a barren stretch of land where even the wind seemed hesitant to exist. His steps were light, but the space around him bent slightly, like reality had learned to make room for him. "…So now it escalates," he muttered. He could feel it. Not with senses—but with presence. Something was coming. Something more refined than before.

He stopped.

The air split.

Not cracked. Not broken.

Opened.

Three figures stepped out. Unlike the previous entity, these were stable. Defined. Their forms resembled humans, but their bodies shimmered with layers of code and light, their outlines too sharp, too perfect. Each one radiated pressure strong enough to warp the ground beneath them.

[SYSTEM HUNTERS DEPLOYED]

[UNITS: ALPHA – BETA – GAMMA]

Null tilted his head slightly. "…So you learned."

They didn't speak.

They acted.

The first—Alpha—moved instantly. Faster than thought. A blade of condensed light formed in its hand, slicing through space itself as it aimed for Null's core.

The second—Beta—raised its hand. The world around Null froze. Air stopped. Sound vanished. Even motion itself hesitated.

The third—Gamma—did not move. Its eyes locked onto Null as symbols flooded around him, analyzing, adapting, predicting.

For the first time—

They coordinated.

The attack landed.

Or at least… it should have.

Null stood there. Unmoved. Untouched.

"…Better."

Alpha's blade passed through empty space. Beta's hold shattered instantly. Gamma's calculations spiraled into chaos.

[ERROR: TARGET OUTSIDE PARAMETERS]

Null smiled faintly. "…But still wrong."

He stepped forward.

The world resumed—but incorrectly. Motion stuttered. Time skipped. Space folded slightly around him as if struggling to keep up.

Alpha attacked again. Faster. Sharper. This time, its blade split into dozens of strikes at once, cutting every possible path of escape.

Null didn't move away.

He moved… differently.

He wasn't where he had been.

He wasn't where he was going.

He simply wasn't there.

The attacks collided with nothing.

"…You rely on prediction," Null said calmly, now standing behind them. "But I don't follow outcomes."

Beta reacted instantly. Its hand slammed downward.

Gravity collapsed.

The ground caved in, crushing inward with overwhelming force, pulling everything into a single point of destruction.Trees in the distance bent. The air screamed. Even light distorted.

For anything that existed—

It would be the end.

Null looked down at the collapsing space.

"…Erase."

The gravity vanished.

Not countered.

Not resisted.

Removed.

Beta froze.

Gamma recalculated.

Alpha attacked again.

This time—

Null raised his hand.

Code: Null.

The space between them broke. Not shattered—deleted.Alpha's body halted mid-motion. A line appeared across its form. Then another. Its structure destabilized instantly.

[CRITICAL FAILURE]

It disappeared.

No explosion.

No remains.

Just absence.

Beta and Gamma didn't hesitate. They adapted again.

Beta changed strategy. Instead of force, it extended its influence outward—trying to overwrite the area itself, to define Null as something that could be removed.

Gamma accelerated its calculations beyond limits, attempting to simulate infinite outcomes at once.

For the first time—

They weren't just attacking.

They were learning him.

Null watched them. Quiet. Observing."…So this is your answer."

He stepped forward again. The moment he did—The world glitched violently.Because something new happened. For a split second—The system hesitated.Gamma saw it.

[WINDOW DETECTED]

It moved instantly, targeting that moment of instability, launching an attack not at Null's body—But at the concept of his existence. For the first time—It touched him.

A sharp distortion cut across Null's shoulder.

Not physical.

Not visible.

But real.

Null stopped.

Looked down.

"…Oh?"

A pause.

Then—

He smiled.

Not amused.

Interested.

"…You almost understood."His eyes glowed brighter than before not red not light. Something deeper.

Something empty.

Code: Null.

Everything stopped.

Not frozen—Stopped.

Beta's influence collapsed.

Gamma's calculations ended. The world itself went silent.Null raised his hand slowly."…Let me show you the difference."he moved his fingers slightly.

Beta's body twisted unnaturally. Its form began to collapse inward, its code unraveling as if something fundamental had been removed.

Gamma tried to respond—tried to escape—

Too late."…You exist because you were written."Their forms broke apart."…I exist because I remain."They vanished both of them gone the silence lingered for a moment longer. Then— the world resumed.

Wind returned.

Sound followed.

But something was wrong very wrong.Null looked at his shoulder again the faint distortion remained it hadn't healed "…So I can be affected."Not erased but touched. His smile returned—wider this time "…Good." Because that meant one thing this wasn't absolute this wasn't finished. This could grow.

Far away, in Aetherion, the hero fell to one knee. His chest tightened as if something invisible had struck him. The sword in his hand dimmed again "…It's getting closer…" Above the world—The system shook violently.

[WORLD STABILITY: 99.82%]

[SYSTEM HUNTERS: TERMINATED]

[TARGET STATUS: ACTIVE]

[THREAT LEVEL: UNKNOWN]

For the first time—It no longer had an answer. And Null…Began to understand his own limit. Which meant only one thing. He could break them too.
