Chapter 29 - Chapter 29

"It's not as dark as I thought it would be," Matthew thought as he watched glowing insects fly by and glowing moss on some rocks and trees.

"But, now I understand the words of that 'Elf woman'. Dozens and dozens, or even more forms of energies belonging to high-rank beasts have appeared."

Matthew could perceive without much effort the different forms of energy that had appeared scattered in that magical forest environment.

The zombie dogs moved cautiously following Matthew's directions.

"You have to be very careful, this environment is ideal for rising in rank, but it is also ideal for disappearing without leaving a trace. There are many powerful forms of energy belonging to some beasts that do not hold back when showing their obvious hostility. Most likely, there are beasts hunting, others protecting their territory and some just trying to pretend that they are predators"

Matthew put the remaining "monster" pill into his mouth.

He jumped to the top of a tree and made his dogs hide among the roots, because at that moment a huge, terrifying black snake with two heads and long fangs began to slither through the area. Drops of venom dripped from those fangs onto the forest floor.

[Two-Headed Snake: S Rank]

Matthew watched as whitish smoke emerged from the drops of poison on the ground and the earth seemed to melt and take on a strange color.

He had begun to consider that this snake was strong when a mammal with sharp teeth, a body covered in thick fur and cunning-looking eyes lunged at the two-headed snake and the forest began to tremble with that titanic battle.

From the mammal's sharp claws, energy cuts emerged that crashed into the ground or impacted the bark of the trees while the snake spewed venom and at the same time tried to use its tail as a whip to hit the ferocious mammal.

Every time the snake shook its tail, a loud and deafening impact was heard.

Boom!

Boom!

Boom!

Boom!

Boom!...

At that moment, Matthew noticed that in different parts of the forest, fierce and bitter battles began to break out between high-ranking beasts.

The two-headed snake glided nimbly between the trees and the ferocious mammal sometimes jumped over the trees and then tried to jump on the snake's neck.

Other times it was the snake that attacked, trying to dig in its fangs, but was stopped by the power cuts that arose from the mammal's claws.

"This fight between these two predators seems to be at a stalemate. I would have attacked the two predators after swallowing the pill, if it weren't for the fact that I could perceive that near one of my zombie dogs there is another predator watching the snake and the mammal as if waiting for the right moment to carry out an ambush"

In that chaotic environment, Matthew understood that any predator could become prey at the slightest carelessness.

"What seems strange to me is that all the chaos began at nightfall. It is strange that such hostile beings can live in peace during the day, and this does not seem to have anything to do with being diurnal or nocturnal in nature"

Matthew tried to understand the nature of the beasts' behavior by observing the surroundings, but could only observe predators fiercely fighting each other. The rest of the weaker beasts had already escaped or lay hidden just like Matthew and his zombie dogs.

"There seems to be a strange being hidden here."

A malicious and cunning voice was heard near the D-rank zombie dog.

It was the creature that had been stalking the two-headed snake and the ferocious mammal.

[Strange Beast: S Rank]

Matthew created a "bone spear", spread his bloody wings, flew to the top of the trees, and threw his spear near the direction where the Strange Beast was.

"So this thing is not alone, but that Other doesn't seem to be that strong," said the Strange Beast in a malicious and cunning voice.

A being with four scaly fingers with sharp claws, with a beak with sharp fangs, with black feathers on the almost humanoid body, with legs similar to that of a hawk and completely black and large eyes, looked in the direction in which Matthew was standing.
