Chapter 30 - Chapter 30

Both Beings looked at each other as if they saw in the other a strange and mysterious being.

The Strange Beast dug its claws into the bark of a tree and climbed up while still watching Matthew.

Matthew was already holding a "bone sword" in his left hand while flapping his wings.

The Strange Beast observed the surroundings and then jumped from one tree to another until it was only three meters away from Matthew.

"You are quite a strange being. What are you?" asked the Strange Beast with his malicious and cunning voice.

"Am I a multitude of things?" Matthew replied.

Boom!

Boom!

In that forest of tall trees, centuries-old and even millennia-old.

"Mmm, it doesn't look like you're lying. And you don't look like prey. But you don't look strong either. Isn't that strange?" asked the Strange Beast.

"Maybe it's your survival instinct alerting you to danger," Matthew responded without letting his guard down.

At that moment, despite the chaos, the two only paid attention to each other, as if evaluating the risks and benefits.

the Strange Beast jumped to another tree that was almost the same distance from Matthew.

"If you let your guard down I will hunt you, you seem like a being from which great benefits can be obtained"

Matthew understood that this provocation was only an attempt by the Strange Beast to get answers.

"Why are all these beasts fighting?" Matthew asked.

The Strange Beast closed its eyes, but that did not mean it had let its guard down. He seemed to think of the Being who gave no importance to his provocation.

"For the same reason that all beings fight," replied the Strange Beast.

"What is this? A deep trivia contest?" Matthew questioned in his mind, although in the end he was able to deduce an answer.

"Why are you here?" asked the Strange Beast.

"For the same reason that all beings fight?" Matthew replied.

three strange, high-pitched squawks that sounded like some kind of laughter, then the Strange Beast jumped towards a tree that was furthest from Matthew.

"If you go further into the forest, as you currently are, you will die. Don't let just anyone devour you," the Strange Beast leaped away through the trees.

"That means you have to be the one to hunt me," Matthew thought as he watched the Strange Beast disappear from his sight.

Matthew turned his attention to his surroundings.

The Two-Headed Serpent and the Fierce Mammal were still fighting, now they had minor wounds on their bodies but the intensity of the battle remained the same.

Flying cautiously, as he did not rule out the possibility of a flying beast attacking him, Matthew continued flying until he approached a sturdy branch high up in a tree, he approached and sat down.

Below the tall tree, a huge three-eyed wolf with blood red fur was fighting against a huge strange feline with a robust, black body with gray spots. Both beasts used their jaws and front legs to attack each other, making the environment around them tremble with each impact caused by their blows on their opponent's body.

[Blood Wolf: Rank A+]

[Feline Bear: Rank S-]

Matthew had seen that the difference, although it seemed small, was tipping the balance in favor of the Feline Bear.

At this moment, Matthew looked around.

"I don't think that Strange Beast has stopped watching me. It's a shame, the fight will be decided soon, both beasts would have brought me great benefits"

The Feline Bear dug its claws into the side of the Blood Wolf and then tore the flesh while using its jaws to bite hard on the neck of the Wolf that was about to succumb.

The sound of bones breaking as the Feline Bear's jaws were imbued with grayish energy. The Blood wolf died and when it fell to the ground its body dried up and bright flowers appeared on it that the Feline Bear devoured while recovering from its wounds.

After the glowing flowers were devoured, the Blood Wolf's body transformed into a gelatinous glowing substance to which the glowing insects approached.

"The color of that substance is also identical to that of the glowing moss scattered in the forest. Did...?" Matthew looked at the glowing moss scattered in different places in the forest.
