Chapter 117 - Chapter 114 : Dizzy

~Two more years later~

Two years had passed, and life had grown even busier.

It was around noon when Jay returned home early from the office.

She had been feeling a bit under the weather, so she decided to wrap up her work from home.

Sitting on the bed with her back leaning comfortably against the headboard, she spent her afternoon reviewing some office files, continuously glancing at the clock as she waited for Keifer.

Just then, the bedroom door swung open.

Keifer walked in, looking completely drained.

His tie was loosened, his hair was slightly messy, and the sharp, exhausted line of his jaw clearly showed how frustrating and endless his morning board meetings had been.

"You're back?"

Jay asked softly, closing the folder in her hands.

"Hmm..." he barely hummed in response.

Without saying another word, he shed his suit coat, tossed it carelessly onto the sofa, and went straight into the washroom.

Jay could clearly feel the heavy weight of his exhaustion.

She knew better than to push him or ask questions right now, so she simply waited for him to come back out.

A few minutes later, Keifer stepped out of the washroom.

He checked his phone, saw his next high-stakes meeting scheduled for tomorrow morning, and set the device down on the nightstand right beside Jay.

He was just about to walk around to his side of the bed to lie down when Jay reached out and caught his wrist.

Keifer paused and looked down at her, a weary sigh escaping his lips.

"Jay, can we please talk tomorrow?

I'm just so tired right now,"

he said, his tone sounding a bit rough and strained from sheer fatigue.

"I know..."

Jay replied gently, not taking any offense at his tone.

"Just a minute."

She quickly set her office files onto the side table.

Before he could process what she was doing,

Jay shifted her position, sitting up straight on the mattress with her legs crossed.

She patted her lap with a warm, tender smile.

Keifer stared at her lap for a long second before looking up at her gentle, smiling face.

All his stress, frustration, and cold defenses completely melted away.

He didn't think about anything else-he simply stepped closer and slipped his head directly into her lap.

Jay smiled softly, reaching down to pull the warm blanket over his body to cover him properly.

She then slid her small fingers into his dark, soft hair, running them gently through his locks in a rhythmic, comforting massage.

Keifer felt an overwhelming wave of peace wash over him.

He wrapped his broad arms tightly around her waist, burying his face into her stomach as he muttered softly,

"...sorry."

Jay's smile widened with deep affection.

She leaned down and pressed a long, sweet kiss directly onto his forehead.

"It's okay, hubby."

Enveloped in her warmth and the soothing touch of her hand, Keifer's body completely relaxed, and within minutes,

he passed out into a deep, peaceful sleep.

.

.

Morning came, and the early golden sunlight filtered softly through the sheer curtains.

Keifer stirred in his sleep,

his hand unconsciously tightening its grip around Jay's waist.

A deep, peaceful smile spread across his face as he pressed his face further into the warmth of her stomach, seeking the comforting scent that always settled his mind.

Then, a sudden thought clicked in his brain.

His eyes snapped open.

He instantly sat up on the bed, realizing with a heavy heart that his suspicion was right-

she hadn't moved a single inch the entire night.

Jay had stayed in that exact, uncomfortable position for hours, letting her legs go numb just so he could sleep peacefully.

"Jay..." he called her softly, reaching out to gently cup her warm cheek.

Jay stirred slowly, her eyelids fluttering open to find his concerned dark eyes staring right at her.

She offered him a faint, sleepy smile, but the second she shifted her body, a violent, sudden knot twisted in her stomach.

Her hand instantly flew to her mouth as all the color drained from her face.

Before Keifer could even ask what was wrong,

Jay scrambled off the mattress and bolted toward the bathroom, leaning over the washbasin as she began to dry-heave and vomit.

"Jay!"

Keifer jumped off the bed and ran after her.

He reached her in seconds, quickly gathering her long hair back with one hand while using his broad palm to rub soothing, steady circles across her back.

He waited patiently by her side, helping her rinse her mouth with warm water before carefully wiping her pale face with a soft tissue.

"Jay!

Sunshine, what happened?

Are you okay?"

Panic bled into his deep voice as his hand reached instinctively for his pocket to pull out his phone.

Realizing he had left it on the nightstand, he turned around to rush back into the bedroom.

"I'm calling the doctor right now."

"Keifer, I'm fine..."

Jay called out weakly, catching the edge of his sleeve to stop him.

"I... I must have just eaten something bad yesterday."

"Jay, look at yourself, you're completely pale-"

"No, Keif, I'm really fine.

Besides, you have that huge board meeting today.

Don't worry about me,"

she said softly, taking a slow step to walk past him into the bedroom.

Before her foot could even clear the bathroom doorway, the entire world tilted.

Her vision blurred, and her head spun violently.

"Jay!"

Keifer lunged forward like a lightning bolt, catching her falling body against his broad chest and holding her as if his very life depended on it.

His heart hammered against his ribs in sheer terror.

"You are not fine!

I am calling the doctor right now, and that's final!"

he declared, his voice tight with undeniable panic as he effortlessly lifted her into his arms and carried her back toward the bed.

"No, Keif... it's okay, really,"

Jay mumbled, resting her dizzy head against his shoulder.

"It must just be acidity from sitting up all night.

I'm fine... plus, we're going to be late for the office."

"Office?!"

Keifer stared down at her in absolute disbelief as he laid her gently against the pillows.

"Are you serious right now?

You are not setting a single foot in that office today!"

"But Keif-"

"No 'buts', Jay!"

Keifer cut her off firmly, his hands planted on his hips as he

glared at her with intense worry.

"If you don't want me to call a doctor, then you are going to stay in this bed and rest.

You are not allowed to get up.

You need total rest today."

"But-"

"Fine, I'm grabbing my phone to call the clinic,"

he threatened, taking a step back.

"No! Okay, okay, I'm resting!

See? I'm staying right here,"

Jay sighed in total defeat, pulling the duvet up to her chin and pouting up at her stubborn, protective husband.

"That's my good girl,"

Keifer smiled gently, leaning down to press a warm, lingering kiss against her forehead.

He walked into the washroom, quickly freshened up, and changed into a sharp charcoal suit for the office.

When he stepped back out into the bedroom, he found Jay staring at him with a dramatic, pathetic pout.

"Keifer... I'm really fine now,"

she insisted, trying to peel back the heavy blanket to step out of bed.

Keifer didn't even say a word;

he simply raised a single eyebrow and slowly reached for his phone on the nightstand.

"Okay, okay, fine! I'm here!"

Jay scoffed, clutching the blanket back up to her chin and glaring at him.

Keifer chuckled at her instant surrender.

He leaned over the bed, stole a quick, soft peck from her pouting lips, and ruffled her dark hair.

"Good girl."

With a final affectionate glance, he headed downstairs straight into the kitchen.

Mrs. Watson was standing near the stove preparing morning tea, while Sophia sat casually on the island counter, chewing on a crisp red apple.

"Mom..."

he called out.

"Anak, you're awake!"

Mrs. Watson smiled, turning around.

"Just sit at the dining table, I'll have breakfast served for you."

"No, Mom, I'm actually in a huge hurry,"

Keifer replied, adjusting his watch.

"But please, can you ask one of the maids to take breakfast upstairs for Jay?"

Mrs. Watson frowned with concern.

"Upstairs?

Isn't Jay going to the office today?

Is she okay?"

"No, actually, she's not well.

She was vomiting early this morning and feeling dizzy,"

Keifer explained, his voice laced with residual worry.

"I made her stay in bed.

Please take care of her,

I really have to head to the meeting now."

"Ah... okay, you go, don't worry," Mrs. Watson replied softly.

The moment Keifer turned his back and rushed out the door, Mrs. Watson and Sophia stole a quick, sharp glance at each other, a sudden spark of suspicion lighting up their eyes.

Upstairs, the moment Jay saw Keifer's car pull out of the driveway through the bedroom window, she tossed the blanket aside.

"Like I'm going to stay in bed all day,"

she muttered to herself, smoothing down her clothes and heading downstairs.

"Good morning, Mom!

Good morning, Soph!"

Jay called out cheerfully as she entered the kitchen with a warm smile.

Before either of them could respond, the heavy, rich aroma of breakfast oil and spices hit Jay's nose.

Her smile vanished instantly.

Something twisted violently in her stomach, and without a word, she turned on her heel and sprinted toward the nearest hallway washroom.

"Jay!"

Mrs. Watson and Sophia dropped everything and ran right behind her, finding her leaning over the sink, dry-heaving and vomiting once again.

They rubbed her back, handed her water, and helped her rinse her mouth before guiding her out to the living room sofa.

"Jay, anak, are you okay?"

Mrs. Watson asked, her eyes searching Jay's pale face.

"Yes, Mom... it's just, I don't know,"

Jay sighed softly, clutching her aching head.

"I've been feeling a bit dizzy for the past few days, and now this vomiting...

I think I really need to stop eating junk food."

Mrs. Watson and Sophia made her sit down comfortably, standing side by side as they exchanged another heavy look.

"Dizzy..."

Mrs. Watson muttered under her breath.

"Vomiting..."

Sophia whispered back, her jaw slightly unhinged.

Mrs. Watson knelt down in front of Jay, gently placing one warm palm against her cheek while holding her hand with the other.

"Anak... when did you get your last period?"

Jay blinked, completely failing to grasp where this was going.

"Last period?

Uh... maybe more than a month ago? I've been so busy at the firm, I didn't really track it..."

Mrs. Watson and Sophia froze.

Their eyes locked onto each other, completely unblinking, as both of them gulped in unison.

Right at that exact moment, Mr. Watson walked out of his main floor study, dressed sharply in his suit and ready for the office.

Seeing the three women frozen in the living room in complete silence, he walked over, raising a suspicious brow.

"What happened to all of you?"

"Dad..."

Sophia muttered, her eyes glued onto Jay's confused face.

"Jay's feeling... dizzy."

"Vomiting too..."

Mrs. Watson added, her voice barely a whisper.

Mr. Watson frowned at first...

but then,

his eyebrows shot up to his hairline as the exact same realization hit his mind like a lightning bolt.

Meanwhile, Jay sat on the plush cushions, staring back and forth at the three of them with a thoroughly bewildered expression.

"Why are you all looking at me like that?"

"We need a doctor,"

Mrs. Watson ordered immediately.

"Right now," Sophia agreed instantly.

"I'm calling right now!"

Mr. Watson finished the sentence, his hands visibly trembling with excitement as he pulled out his phone and frantically dialed the family doctor's private line.
