Ava's POV
The hunter made his decision.
She saw it happen the small shift in his weight, the knife hand moving, not toward her and the gun she was holding but toward Leo because Leo was closer and Leo was the one between him and the exit and Leo's forearm was already cut which meant Leo was already compromised.
The hunter was fast.
Leo was faster.
He got his arm up again the same arm, the cut one and redirected the blade a second time and she heard him pull the same controlled breath through his teeth and she understood with a cold, clarifying anger that he was going to keep putting that arm up as many times as necessary and the blade was going to keep finding it and at some point the math of that stopped working.
She lowered the gun.
