Chapter 10 - An unexpected battle

An hour later, deep in the zone, they killed several high-level Beasts. Most were advanced-tier above the usual, with improved strength and unique abilities, making them especially dangerous and unexpectedly numerous. Thankfully, they hadn't seen a king-tier yet.

Kazz, seeing their progress fighting against a horde of advanced-tier monsters, was satisfied that they could handle themselves, but thankful that there was no King-tier here.

As soon as that group finished carving out the crystal from the monsters, they noticed a large group heading their way.

Quit thinking to himself, "Oh, great, they're back, and he brought 2 other groups with him."

You guys are going to pay for attacking us. You've crossed a line in the second year; you will hand over all your crystals and take responsibility for undermining the system. You will no longer be supporting the low levels, or these consequences will continue getting worse.

Erin, looking over this group, shook her head. Do these idiots ever learn just because you have power? Does that mean it's worth picking on the weak? How pathetic are these fools? Quinn, looking over, you have no idea. Do you? It's a common thing. The strong pick on the week and try to dominate over them. Because they can, they don't care if they're weak or not; they don't care about getting stronger. All they care about is dominating others.

Erin is cursing all this, shaking her head, that's pathetic, you waste your time picking on the weak. We have enemies far stronger than ever before, and you're wasting your time trying to bolster your ego. You have to be an idiot to think in such a way.

How dare you, the ruling class? And those who are in power have the responsibility to subjugate the weak; the war is just useful to get rid of the weak ones. Well, that's saying a lot considering what you guys have brought; there are 15 of you against 5 of us. Are you guys truly afraid that you're going to be defeated again?

I'm not gonna underestimate The Punisher boy again, he's far too dangerous to ignore. You need to stop protecting these low levels and ice queen; you need to get off your high horse. Erin, looking at Layla, does almost all the boys act egotistically when they have that much power. Layla Said. Yes, every time most of the boys and girls act like this, power tripping is pretty common and is also encouraged by the teachers. It's all about who has the most power to get the best status and who has the most privilege as well.

Quinn said this is pretty neural behavior for all of them. I know you don't seem to see it, but high levels aren't trying to become stronger for their own sake; they are trying to get stronger for their status and to pick on the week. Is helping with their ego showing that they can dominate over anyone? They feel like this is pretty common: the strong pick on the week. That's how the school works.

Erin, looking at the groups, why would you guys even bother with such a system? You all wish to have prestige and royal status, you act like this is a monarch newsflash. Just because you want to be this high amid doesn't make you superior to one house. Yes, the strong can do a lot, but piggy on the week because you just want to get rid of them, because you deem them unworthy, doesn't mean they have a use; you waste your time. Attacking the week for nothing when you could spend that time getting yourself stronger. So you could fight to protect the people you care about

Greet speech ice cream, but it doesn't mean much. Why would any of us care about such things, protect who our families are, why would we care? They can protect themselves, and the threat will never come anyway. So there's nothing to worry about. It's better to show that we,e the strong, are superior to everyone else. The strong will always rule, no matter what. This is a royal status for those who have power.

So the mighty ice cream is an ignorant child blind to the very world around her, well. Newsflash, ice Queen, but we fight to show our prestige and your naivete. Stop, that's because you don't wanna fight the week, but it doesn't mean everyone else won't. We're not here to fight each other because we're strong; we're here to fight to get ourselves a better status. The show that we have the most power and the week should be thrown out to be killed and purged.

This is what I was talking about. The arrogance is strong. They don't care about the low levels; they care about their order. The teachers are deliberately blind to this. They allow the bullying to occur, and they don't care how it's done as long as the weak are removed and are shocked away from society.

Erin said I cannot believe what nonsense everything's going on. Beasts are tackling Alpo's new wants this nonsense. What a waste.\n There's time to be trying to be a better status when you're too weak to fight against the enemy, you're going to go out to the world and discuss that you and your ego mean nothing against the enemy. They will take one look at you and kill you without hesitation.

As all 3 vampire leaders are looking at this from a cliffside. Well, I'm glad that they're doing all right, Vincent said. Silver said, " Well, it's to be expected. They've been fighting a bunch of monsters, and then these idiots showed up, thinking that they could steal everything again. They didn't learn the lesson very well for the last time.

An alert popped up on all 3 of their communication devices, informing them that a group of Scarup demons was approaching. The 3 vampire leaders are looking at the alert, not their heads. All right, let's get ready. This is going to be ugly here, Vincent said. Silver, looking up all the places for this to happen. Why here? Kazz, looking at her, it can't be helped. I'll inform the President what's going on.

A streak of fire rushed across the sky, landing near Quinn's group. Everyone sat in shock at what had just happened.

As the smoke and dust cleared away, a massive shadow rose, and an ear-piercing roar rang across the desert, seamlessly pulling everyone's focus from the aftermath of the strike to the new emerging threat.

Erin's eyes widened as she caught sight of the creature emerging from the smoke. She went completely pale, her hands quivering. In a choked whisper, she said, "It's a renegade scarab, Queen." The intensity in her speech was unmistakable as she continued, "We have to get out of here now!"

They all began running as fast as they could. The Queen quickly released her horde of scarab demons, and the games poured out, blackening the entire desert. As they began improving their abilities and attacking the horde, Peter, realizing that they weren't going to make it, called out, "Guys, you need to leave and just keep going. I'll fight them off myself."

Someone shouted back, "No, you can't do it. You're only one person; you're not strong enough to fight them all alone."

Peter turned around and stared at Quinn. "I know that, but I'm tired of being the useless mule. I want to prove myself while also protecting my friends," Peter said. The others spun around and stopped. "Oh no, you don't. You don't get to play hero by yourself," Borden said.

"Well then, if we're going to go down, we're going to go down fighting," one of them said. As they got ready for the horde to swarm them, massive explosions exploded near them. They noticed massive strings slicing through the horde.

They saw the 3 vampire leaders dropping down well, said Vincent. Silver says, " All right, you guys can stand back. We'll help you fight these guys off. So you don't have to worry so much.

The horde was overwhelming, even with the three leaders helping. Peter saw a scarab break through and attack Quinn. He used his Earth ability to block it, but it punched through, injuring Peter instead of Quinn.

"No. You idiot, what have you done? You weren't supposed to protect me. We're supposed to fight as a team," Quinn chastised.

Erin realized the situation was getting dangerous. She decided to use almost all of her MC and conjure a giant ice wall to temporarily block out the horde.

Erin checked the medical equipment and found it destroyed, slashed during the fight, and cursed by the scarab demons.

Quinn, realizing the situation was dire, couldn't just let Peter die. "He may be an idiot and used as a punching bag," Quinn said, "but he was willing to stand up and fight for us and protect us, not willing to give in to the bullies." Erin added, "There's gotta be a way to save him. He may be a low-level, but he had repeatedly tried to protect us." Layla turned to Quinn. "You have to do it; you need to save him."

Quinn, realizing at that moment what Layla was referring to, decided to go ahead and do it. He went and activated the ritual, turning another one of his friends into a Vampire.

[Blood ritual has been activated].

As Peter squirmed, being held down kept him from losing control.

[The blood ritual was a success]

[2/2 Family members successfully blooded]

[You have successfully created a Death knight.]

Death Knight: an undead guardian with magical abilities, dwelling between life and death. They spread fear and paralyze victims. Becoming a Death Knight alters the soul, binding it to the underworld and making genuine emotion difficult to feel.

[Life Leech Drainage, the opponent of their stamina and MC.]

[Death's presence has caused a potent person to become paralyzed with fear of imminent death.]

Unequaled strength. Their power grows with every fight and each enemy's energy consumed, permanently increasing overall strength.

[Call of death: Have the target be dragged to the Underworld?]

[Death grab: pull to their location or to a different location.]

[Near death: Granting themselves or others a temporary relief from death's grip]

As the knowledge filled Quinn's head, he realized that they were still not out of danger. But at that moment, a thunderous sound could be heard—the sound of machines coming in. Layla realized what that was. "The reinforcements are here," Layla said. Over the horizon, the armored military transports and support vehicles of the vampire alliance appeared, weapons ready and flanked by squads of their elite fighters. Their arrival signaled that the main allied military was now joining the battle and turning the tide in their favor.

The frozen barrier was immediately brought down; they could see the horde of scarred beetles everywhere around them, but most were already dead. The ward was being pushed back, and there they could see Leo fighting them off. But they knew they weren't completely safe until they got out. Leo spun around and yelled at the kids, "You need to get back to the base. Everyone has been recalled. You're the last ones, the return."

They got up immediately and rushed to the base as fast as possible.

Sometime after all, the remaining students were returned to school.

Leo stepped into General Nathan's office.

I have the report, sir. Regrettably, we lost 3 groups during this outing to the attack, but our Forces responded quickly and suppressed the problem, minimizing casualties; only those 3 groups perished during this event.
