Chapter 82 - The Madam is an Ex-Valkyrie 4

The house where my parents live now was built on land I purchased, with the design shaped largely by my mother's ideas.

However, that only applies to the house itself; there's an absurdly vast backyard… and the truth is, I didn't buy this land to house my parents.

I actually bought it for relocating the Cheonmyeong Headquarters, but before that happened the Floating Island Research—which became the foundation of the current Cheonmyeong HQ—succeeded, so investment moved there and this plot was left untouched for years.

Later, when my Aunt succeeded Archbishop Otto Apocalypse, she discovered this land while organizing the assets.

The problem was that it had been left unused without any occupants, and its remote location made it awkward to dispatch staff there.

What's more, surveys revealed it wasn't exactly viable for planting or cultivation.

In other words, to Cheonmyeong it was a chicken rib—useless yet hard to discard.

To be honest, it wouldn't have mattered if it stayed abandoned.

After all, it had been sitting unused for centuries.

Even if it stayed neglected a while longer, no one would bat an eye.

The landowner was the Archbishop of Cheonmyeong—who would dare to complain?

However, once my Aunt spotted it, she seemed determined to make use of it somehow.

After much deliberation, she gifted the land to me at my retirement ceremony.

Simply put, the land looked destined to stay useless—it was a shame to let it go, but it was too ambiguous to develop—so she offloaded it onto me.

Under the guise of a retirement gift.

Of course it's nice to own land, but since it was so hard to use, I thought about what to do and remembered how my parents once said they'd love to live in a house I designed, so I made a plan.

Specifically, a retirement plan for my parents.

That's why I decided to build a land combat training facility.

Cheonmyeong had its own training grounds, but my aim was to build a retreat that doubled as a training center.

Since this land was untouched by human hands, it could serve as a resort.

However, it would be unbearably dull as a pure resort, so I combined it with a land combat training facility.

My Aunt approved of my idea and even handed me the construction permit for the facility.

So this training ground was designed to accommodate riverside drills, and even includes a simulated city and village interior for urban exercises.

This was thanks to my own experience, the scientific and technological resources at Cheonmyeong, and the keen intellect I acquired after being reincarnated into this world.

The fact that you could recreate any desired location with just earth and Honkai Corruption was a draw even within Cheonmyeong; and during construction a natural hot spring emerged, so we built a bathhouse and lodgings close to the main house for easy upkeep, which attracted many visitors looking for both retreat and training.

Honestly, I thought it was great too, but since it became more popular within Cheonmyeong than anticipated, my Aunt devised a systematic management plan.

I also realized that because the facility had grown larger than expected, it was bleeding money on upkeep rather than making a profit.

The reason was simple.

During the off-season, almost no one showed up.

So after fierce negotiations, I gave my parents the title of facility managers, and apart from their salary, Cheonmyeong agreed to cover the maintenance costs and additional personnel.

Additionally, the land will revert to Cheonmyeong after my death.

After all, the original purpose was to make my parents' retirement comfortable.

And since I'll own the land until it's returned, they'll have to pay me rent.

But that's not the important part… I've never actually used this training facility.

I used it exactly once as a demonstration, and never used it again.

"I never imagined I'd actually get to use it at a time like this."

The atmosphere right now is utterly festive.

To be honest, this mock battle my Aunt set up to wipe me out has attracted such a crowd, I can't help but wonder why.

And why is the Raging Heart she's holding fitted with a Cartridge?

Actually, I know the Raging Heart my Aunt is holding all too well.

No, to be precise, I knew because of my previous life's knowledge… and I'm the one who brought it into this world.

I spent time in the Sea of Quanta before Bianca; while wandering the Quantum Realm, I came across ruins that looked familiar and discovered the Raging Heart there.

Unsure what to do with it, I eventually slipped it into my pocket, and after Bianca and I returned to reality, it was lost in some incident only to end up in Archbishop Otto's hands.

Of course, even Cheonmyeong's most advanced scientific facilities couldn't analyze the Raging Heart… the only one it reacted to was my Aunt.

Otto Apocalypse seized on the fact that it reacted to his granddaughter and launched an exhaustive investigation into the Raging Heart, uncovering details about its Link Core and device.

It proved that his reputation as a genius and his long tenure as Archbishop of Cheonmyeong were no mere pose.

However, he judged it wouldn't do much to save Karen, so he likely wrapped up after conducting a few more studies.

Could one of those studies have been the Cartridge system?

"He finished researching it to the point of development?"

Not just a few studies—at this rate, he even completed the [Strike Cannon] from Force, didn't he?

"Alright, Captain, you've been waiting, haven't you?"

"...Yes."

Honestly, I was actually looking forward to this moment.

I put on a bit of a fuss, but honestly I've had a lot of stress building up thanks to all the shocking events around me.

And unlike in my previous life, being a Saiyan means ordinary stress relief methods don't work; I tend to need more intense movement to let off steam.

But there are only a few people willing to put up with my intense workouts, and even though they're all here to watch… none of them are exactly free.

So even though I pretended to dislike it outwardly, inside I was thrilled this was happening.

Especially seeing my Aunt in her current state.

"You've gotten stronger, Aunt."

"...As expected, the Captain senses it immediately, huh?"

It's not simply because of the Cartridge.

The flow of Honkai Energy and Honkai Corruption was in perfect harmony, like gentle ripples, so I could immediately gauge how much training she'd put in.

In this world, if Honkai Energy and Honkai Corruption aren't balanced—if one dominates—they clash violently.

That's why, as a super soldier, my Aunt's body was basically a mass of Honkai Corruption, and whenever the dormant Link Core activated through the Raging Heart, her internal Honkai Energy and Honkai Corruption would collide, inflicting serious internal injuries.

Of course, my Aunt's regeneration was so advanced she healed quickly, but the pain was still there, so she restrained herself from using the Raging Heart whenever possible.

But now that she's even got a cartridge to amplify her Honkai Energy—honestly, I'm curious how strong she's become.

"Okay, preparation time is over! The match will last 20 minutes in total~ Now, let's begin Round 1!"

And the moment Ai-chan finishes speaking, everyone's eyes widen as they look at us.
