"So who the hell is this Texas Chainsaw Man?" Dean asked, looking down at the unconscious man Henry had just knocked out.
"Save the questions for later, Dean. Let's get inside," Henry said as he bent down and picked Ash up.
Henry already knew who the man was. He had seen Evil Dead before, so recognizing Ash Williams wasn't difficult.
If this really was Ash, then the Necronomicon was probably involved, which meant they had a much bigger problem than a guy running around with a chainsaw.
Sam headed toward the cabin while Dean's attention shifted to the chainsaw lying in the dirt. He picked it up and looked it over with an unmistakable grin.
Sam noticed and stopped.
"Dean. Seriously?"
Dean looked at him.
"What?"
"You just got attacked by a guy with that thing, and your first thought is to play with it?"
Dean pulled the starter cord and the chainsaw roared to life.
"Hey, this thing's pretty sweet."
Sam shook his head.
"Of course you think it is."
Dean gave the chainsaw another look before shutting it off.
"Come on, Sammy. You know this is cool."
Henry glanced back while carrying Ash toward the cabin.
"Can we maybe worry about the unconscious guy and the evil book first?"
Dean sighed and followed them.
"Fine."
Sam walked past him toward the cabin.
"Thank you."
Dean looked down at the chainsaw once more before carrying it inside.
"Still keeping it."
Sam turned around.
"Dean."
"Buzz off, Sammy."
Henry carried Ash into the cabin and dropped him onto one of the chairs before looking around. The place was a mess. Blood covered parts of the wooden walls and floor, and a severed human hand lay near the corner of the room.
Sam slowly looked around the cabin.
"Something definitely happened here."
He crouched near one of the bloodstains and touched the edge of it without getting any on his fingers.
"This is fresh. Probably happened within the last few hours."
Henry looked around the room and spotted the book sitting nearby.
His expression changed immediately.
He walked over, picked it up, and held it up for the others to see.
"Well, there it is."
He stared at the Necronomicon with an annoyed expression.
"Fuck it. So you're the thing that sent us here. Send us back."
Henry started to turn the book over in his hands, clearly considering whether destroying it would solve the problem.
Sam noticed.
"Don't."
He quickly took the book from Henry before he could do anything with it.
"We don't know what'll happen if you destroy it."
Sam opened the book carefully, hoping they might find something that explained the portal or gave them a way back.
Instead, the pages were covered in strange writing.
Sam frowned as he looked closer.
"What's this?"
The words were written in dark red, almost like dried blood, but none of the writing made any sense. It was just a mass of strange symbols and unreadable phrases spread across the pages.
Henry leaned over Sam's shoulder.
"Can you read any of it?"
Sam shook his head.
"No."
He turned another page.
"Whatever language this is, I don't recognize it."
Dean looked over from the other side of the room.
"So our magic evil book doesn't come with an instruction manual."
Sam ignored him and kept examining the pages.

After about thirty minutes, Ash suddenly woke up with a loud scream and nearly fell out of the chair. He looked around the cabin, spotted Dean, Sam, and Henry, and immediately backed away from them.
"Stay away from me, you half-dead pieces of shit!"
The three exchanged confused looks.
Dean pointed at himself.
"So, do I look anything like one of those half-zombies?"
"Yeah, you do," Henry said without hesitation.
Dean slowly looked at him.
"Thanks."
Sam ignored them and focused on Ash.
"We're human. We're not whatever you think we are. Can you tell us what's happening here and where this place is?"
Ash stared at them suspiciously.
"You guys are human?"
"Yes," Sam answered.
Ash looked between the three of them, still clearly unconvinced.
"Well, you can ignore that for now. Start by telling me the year," Henry said, clearly wanting to know exactly when they had ended up.
Ash frowned.
"Uh... 1981?"
Henry's expression dropped.
"Yep. We're fucked."
The realization hit him hard. Somehow, the book had sent them from 2008 all the way back to 1981. They hadn't just been transported somewhere else; they had been thrown twenty-seven years into the past.
Sam stared at Ash.
"Wait. 1981? You don't mean 2008?"
Ash gave him a confused look.
"Not unless I've been wandering around these woods for the last twenty-five years."
Dean looked between them.
"What the fuck is happening?"
Henry pointed toward the Necronomicon.
"For starters, the book we found in the museum isn't the same book that's here."
Sam looked at him.
"What?"
"The one from the museum sent us here. This is the book from the past."
Henry looked around the bloody cabin.
"We didn't just get transported somewhere. That thing sent us back in time, and now we're standing in past where it seems this book made hell."
Dean stared at the book.
"So we're stuck in 1981."
Henry nodded grimly.
"Yeah."
He rubbed his face.
"To put it frankly, we're fucked beyond repair."
