The quiet in the bathroom didn't last forever.
For a while, Kiara stayed still against Fionn, her head resting on his shoulder, her fingers lightly tracing patterns against his arm. The water had begun to cool, but neither of them moved.
She felt like staying like that forever, no illness to worry about, no pressure or weird expectations. But reality couldn't be ignored.
Fionn was the first to shift. Not abruptly, not enough to disturb her, just enough to remind himself that time was moving.
"We should get out," he said softly.
Kiara didn't respond immediately; her fingers stilled. And just like that, the weight she had forgotten crept back in.
"Where to?" She asked.
"We have to meet those old conservatives. Remember?"
Suddenly, she tensed. How had she forgotten that they had a meeting to attend? And not just any meeting, it was with the big shots of the Clarkson business empire.
"I don't think I can do this," she admitted quietly.
