The words hit her like a shockwave. "What?" she breathed, her eyes widening. "How did you find o...." Her voice faded to nothing.
"I was the one who introduced you to that doctor in London, remember?" he said quietly. "You think I wouldn't find out?"
Kiara's heart dropped.
"I just…" Samuel exhaled, running a hand through his hair. "I want to know when you were planning on telling me that."
She stared at him, completely caught off guard. "I, Samuel, I was going to..."
"When?" he pressed, not harshly, but firmly. "After what? After it got worse? Or when it was too late for anything to be done?"
Tears welled up in her eyes, but she blinked them back. "I didn't want to worry you. I didn't want to worry anyone."
He let out a small, almost defeated laugh. "Worry me?" He shook his head. "Kiara, you're already worrying me."
