Chapter 45 - Chapter 45: New Ninja?

A moment later, Olivia opened her eyes, a look of surprise and novelty on her face.

"I feel it! A strange energy appeared in my body. It flows from my stomach to my limbs and bones. It feels warm, very comfortable, and I feel full of strength!"

Olivia excitedly described her feelings to Shane.

Shane nodded, his mind moving slightly. "Recycle!"

Whoosh.

A green light ball flew out of Olivia's body and instantly returned to Shane's System inventory.

"Eh? It's gone?"

Olivia was stunned. The warm current circulating in her body disappeared instantly, and the method of refining chakra that was clearly imprinted in her mind just a second ago vanished without a trace, as if she had never learned it.

"I just took back the ability," Shane explained, then flicked his finger, sending the green light ball back into Olivia's body. "Now try again."

"It's back! The feeling is back!" Olivia exclaimed in amazement.

"As expected."

Shane smiled with satisfaction.

The "Skill Book" conjecture was confirmed. The ninjutsu or skills drawn from the System could be granted to others like installing software, and could be uninstalled and recycled at any time.

This meant two things.

First, he had absolute control over the ninjas he cultivated. If they were obedient, he would give them power. If they betrayed him, he could strip them of everything instantly.

Second, a single "Skill Book" could be used repeatedly, but it couldn't be cloned. If he gave the Chakra Refining Method to Olivia, he couldn't give it to Serena at the same time unless he drew a second one or took it back from Olivia.

Fortunately, the Chakra Refining Method was different from other ninjutsu. Once a seed was planted and the user successfully refined their own chakra, the method itself became less critical for maintaining the power, though essential for growth. Wait, no—if he recycled the method, the user forgot how to refine chakra, effectively halting their progress or crippling their ability to generate more.

"Ding!"

"Special Quest Completed: Cultivate a ninja."

"Reward Issued: Ninja Cultivation Function unlocked. Chakra Fruit x1."

The system notification sounded right on time.

Shane checked the System Panel. A new "Ninja Cultivation" tab had appeared. Inside, there was currently only one avatar: Olivia.

[Name: Olivia]

[Identity: Ninja of the Fire (Konoha)]

[Chakra: Lv.1 (1/100)]

[Ninjutsu: Chakra Refining Method]

[Status: Healthy/Loyal]

[Rebate: 10% of cultivation progress returned to host]

10% rebate?

Shane raised an eyebrow. If Olivia refined 10 points of chakra, he would get 1 point? It seemed small, but if he had an army of ninjas... thousands of them cultivating day and night... the passive income would be terrifying.

"And this..."

Shane's gaze shifted to the Item column. A red, apple-sized fruit exuding a strange fragrance lay there quietly.

Chakra Fruit.

Without hesitation, Shane took out the fruit. The car was instantly filled with a refreshing, sweet fragrance.

"What is that? It smells so good!" Anna sniffed, looking back greedily. Even as a vampire who only craved blood, she felt a strong desire to eat that fruit.

"Good stuff."

Shane didn't explain much. He opened his mouth and took a bite.

Crunch.

Crisp and sweet, turning into juice that flowed down his throat.

Boom!

A terrifying amount of chakra exploded in his abdomen like a nuclear bomb!

If Shane's previous chakra volume was a bucket of water, this fruit poured a rushing river into him. The massive energy rampaged through his meridians, widening and strengthening them.

Shane closed his eyes, guiding the energy.

Ten minutes later.

Shane opened his eyes. A flash of blue light seemingly flickered in his pupils. He let out a long breath of turbid air.

His chakra volume had increased at least tenfold!

Previously, using Dance of the Shikigami might have lasted a few minutes. Now? He could probably fly from here to Washington without panting.

"We're almost there," Anna reminded them. "According to the map, the crash site and the survivors are in a town called Kittanning ahead."

Shane looked out the window. The scenery had turned into a typical quiet American countryside.

"Go to the hospital first. The survivors are there," Shane instructed. "And... keep an eye out for two men driving a black 1967 Chevy Impala. They might be pretending to be Homeland Security, FBI, or something similar."

"Acquaintances?" Olivia asked, sensing Shane's tone.

"You could say that. Two brothers who specialize in hunting things like what we're looking for. The 'Winchesters'."
