Nova's POV
The shadow creatures in the Enchanted Woods were being watched.
Thorne had twelve scouts in rotating shifts, the winter wolves had apparently organized their own patrol system without being asked, and Orion had spent two hours that morning walking the tree line with Aldric in a way that was officially a familiarization exercise and was actually Orion establishing in his own mind exactly where the threat was and what it would take to reach his sister.
She knew this because Aldric had reported it to Ryder, who had reported it to her, wearing the expression of a man who found Orion increasingly comprehensible and wasn't sure how he felt about that.
The creatures hadn't moved since yesterday.
Seraphine had looked at the scout's report and said not yet in the tone of someone reading weather not alarmed, just accurate.
Not yet was doing significant work as reassurance.
